Your EdgeGamers Story

[*]Why did you join eGO?
Long long ago while playing around RTCW:ET servers, I stumbled upon a server with a pretty nice (if deranged) community around it. I played some good time on there, and the server's maintainer (not the creator, he inherited it) ended up being a good friend whom I bugger up to today. As I started branching from that server, and as I started playing some CS, and then some DoD (What can I say, I like classes, it's a miracle I never got hooked on TF2, there's still time for it though), And then some DoD:S, I met more and more often with people in clans, either regular clans or competition clans. And, except for one clan I met back in RTCW:ET that was a very professional, tight knit competition clan, I saw terrible attitudes in all the clans I met.

People I met in these clans were despondent, aggressive, manipulative and harsh. This, mixed with the fact that I was a casual gamer (hey, I have a n50 nostromo now, but I never use it... right now) and I wasn't top level material made me never join a clan or another community. Then, I stumbled upon a DoD (or DoD:S) eGO server, and the ambiance was something else altogether. It was or seemed a healthy, normal, calm decent community, and it reminded of the old RTCW:ET server where I had so much enjoyment. I met some nice people (Gerbil) who made me feel welcome even not being a pro, so I came to the forums, and I read around some, read and checked and decided to join. I've never strived for an eG or eGO, because I'm not sure I can put in the hours and dedication that would take, but I've always felt welcome here.


[*]Favorite eGO memories

Walking around in Epsilon Minecraft era, not even building, I hadn't started to try and make something that big back then, but I had lots of fun just checking user's structures, not even the mall and all the garish grandiosity surrounding it, but simple old nice buildings. I did love to stay a few nights at the mall though, bow in hand hunting for roving mobs and killing them, I felt a little like a nice mall cop (long before I ever saw Paul Blart).

I stay because it's the only place I feel safe constructing harebrained structures in MC and trying to "invite" people to see my progress without worry about being trolled for my creations, and where I can get a genuine "cool" back. I stay because I can drop into DoD:S once in a long while, choose random class (that's the best), and help push forward without backlash for the time I need to re acclimate into the game, and where a loss is just a loss and not the end of the world. And I stay because I see so many eG and eGOs for whom this is home, and that spend a lot of time and effort into creating and making new stuff and fixing broken stuff here.
 
Why did you join eGO?

Started playing on the CS:S servers way back in 2011-2012. Didn't join for about a year but spent all my free time on Italy, Dust_1, and Highschool (R.I.P.). I had numerous admins and members try to recruit me but I never really had the nerve to do so due to some issues that had been happening in real life at the time. Once stuff died down in early 2014, I finally signed up.

Favorite eGO Memories

I'd have to say the initial rise of CS:GO Jail in 2015. There were so many great times to be had during that era and I still feel amazed that I had been part of the process to raise Jail to the position it deserved. The countless nights I spent keeping the server alive with so many great people was a sight to behold and we celebrated like hell every time we hit 32/32. I had also been a recruitment coordinator at the time and the numerous drives I had participated were nights I'll never forget. The combination of advertising Jail throughout the Edge Gamers community and bringing in so many dedicated members into our ranks are memories which I'll never forget.

eGO Pride

Despite being away for quite some time due to numerous real-life commitments I now hold, I have always tried to keep in touch with many of my good friends in eGO. Even when I had no time to participate in anything, I always felt a sense of comradeship with my peers and longed for a chance to return to the servers and continue the great times. While I now have more than a few great friends in my personal life, not many can match the people I met in our ranks. There's nothing like getting a bunch of like-minded gamers to rebel against those bloody CT's and sending the whole Jail into disarray just for the fun of it.
 
This is my story on how I joined eGO. I found these servers when I started playing, I thought nothing of it, just regular servers. Everyone greeted me (Which was very nice and pretty unusual). I met a couple of guys including Psycho on 24/7 turbine, they were really nice and we played and talked for a while. Maybe a week after that, Psycho said I should join eGO, I didnt know what it was, I thought it was just some steam group, I didnt know ANYTHING about a huge gaming website. I said yes and put my name to =(eGO)= NavMak (My former username). And his reaction was unforgettable, I still laugh at it! After I signed up, everyone gave me a warm welcome. which was an awesome feeling. Being me, being quiet because my mother died not so long before that, I was really quiet, I didnt talk, I didnt do anything, on teamspeak, i would say hi, and that would pretty much be it. The memories that I had (and still having) we're amazing, eGO is putting me back into the puzzle. After playing for a couple of months, i'm starting to become more talkative and non-introvert-ish ._. like not just in gaming, literally in real life. I cant explain it, I really cant, my dad has seen me doing better in school and being more active, im getting back on track with life, and im happy about it, eGO has really changed me, and that is my best memories and there still coming! What chose me to stay and game, not just for gaming, but people I can rely on and talk to in tough situations, if im feeling down, I talk to these guys and im pretty much just become happy the more I talk. Basically, the people is what keeps me happy, everyone is so nice. This gaming community is just... off the hook <3333
 
Why did you join eGO? Tell us if you have a great recruitment story. Who recruited you? On what server? etc. I joined eGO because i have no life and play a lot of csgo my best recruitment story is when i was helping someone join and then 45 min they told me that they need their parents pin code to google stuff and then he said that you should quit wasteing your time online :( . Black angel recruited me ttt and it was fun
 
I used to play TTT a lot and I ended up playing like at least 7 days a week and some dude noticed I played a lot but was not in the group so he helped me so sign up, that was 4 years ago so I don't remember the guys name but I remember it was a pain in the ass for me to sign up, lmao.
 
Why did you join eGO?

When I was 17 and a senior in High School, I got my first ever gaming computer. Immediately, I gravitated towards Team Fortress 2. I played entirely by myself, making it a personal experience of progressing 'solo.' Then, one morning in English Class, a kid named Andrew asked me if I played video games. Upon receiving an affirmative, he followed up with a question regarding whether or not I played Team Fortress 2. It was, of course, my favorite game.

Turns out he went by the screen name Ang0ron, and was an admin in Edge-Gamers TF2 Division. He was kind enough to bring me onto our servers (Halloween Event 24/7) where I was recruited immediately. Since then, we have come to have three more individuals from our High School be very involved in the organization. Namely, Comatose, ShadowMage and Minho. We all still play games together - and Edge-Gamers has definitely contributed to me staying close to these boys even after all these years!

Favorite eGO memories

(Cheesiness ahead!) The best moment I've ever had in Edge-Gamers took place at the February TF2 Karaoke Night just last month. It's always been one of my favorite events, and my closest friends were just beginning to find out that I was Transgendered. I was looking for a way to come out publicly, and DUH kept mentioning Karaoke as a possibility. So that's what we decided on!

It comes time for my song, and the room is PACKED. There was a clanwide before the event, and everyone just moved straight from the meeting room to karaoke, so I was shaking wildly as I cued my mic. I got on and explained why my voice would be sounding different that time, and that part of the reason I'd been gone six months was due to me starting my transition from male to female. And with that (now even shakier), I began my song.

After finishing the piece and the event moving on, I started getting floods of Teamspeak messages. Friends, Acquaintances, and people that i didn't even have the pleasure of meeting yet. ALL members of Edge-Gamers. Each and every one sending me such amazing messages that I was shellshocked. As they continued to come in, and I continued to get more and more steam friend requests, I was really reminded why I loved this community so much to begin with.

eGO Pride - Why you choose to game here? What keeps you with eGO?

Back when I was a TF2 RC Advisor, I used to tell people how we could play video games anywhere - and that it's our choice to play in a community. It's a good choice. The fact that we're all here in this thread evaluating pieces of creative writing is evidence enough of this. Visit any gaming community, and you will be sure to find that their own definitions of community don't hold a candle to ours. This keeps me tethered to the grand Edge-Gamers flagship. It always has, and it will for years to come.

WHY DID I JOIN eGO:
So about 2 and a half years ago a freind of mine gave me an old gateway laptoo. Needless to say it was not for gaming, getting 10-30 fps on CS. But past that I loved csgo, and the competitive feel of it. One day I was playing casual like I did everyday and I saw browse comunity servers, and had no idea what that meant. So I clicked on it and joined eGO jailbreak DALLAS. And I was hooked. My shitty laptop could run majority of the maps. And I loved how welcoming the community was to me. After about a month of playing on the server I was starting to get asked by majority of admins if I would like to join. I wasn't really trying to join for the longest time and didn't really understand the point if it. After about a year or so playing on the servers on my laptop, I finally am playing on a map known as clouds (worst map) and I ran into an admin known as Kris. I was pretty tired after work that night and he asked me and I said why not. So I joined and unlike many others I didn't really have many problems joining. In all honesty I joined eGO to become an admin. Due to my work scedule along with kids I could only play late at night and early in the morning. And it was quite toxic sometimes. And as soon as I got my G I was there late at night and late night jail was never better.
FAVORITE eGO MEMORIES:
So let's start out with my favorite server, jailbreak. I have way to many memories to list them all. Whether it's late night rebelling or getting up early and starting the server for the day. I loved jail, and hated it when It died. BUT WE'RE BACK.
Another favorite memory of mine is the karaoke nights tf2 hosted. So many talented people I had no idea I was playing with everyday. Along with Tea singing Party in the USA(which was great btw xD) Another memory are the pop flashes that the cs people put together. It's basically a scrim versus a group of 10 people. Alot of fun and a lot more screaming.
eGO PRIDE:
I have chosen to stay with eGO because I love the people here. And here at cs there's been some shit. But past all that, we are a great community where I could join a random room in ts or a server of ours on a game that I've never played and be welcomed. I've gained a great group of freinds from it and couldn't imagine going anywhere else. (Sorry for the cheese)

My dad used to play with you guys, and then my brother. Now, I joined because I thought it would be a fun community to play with, and I was right.
 
Why I joined: I was in the 24/7 Avalanche server, saw they were accepting applications for joining, so I joined

Favorite memory: SO! Back when we had a weekly podcast (the OG podcast, run by Parvovirus, Sloppie, and a few others), they had a segment where they took questions from the community and answered them. I always posted questions that made it onto the podcast, so they invited me onto the 20th podcast along with Artimus and Legend (at the time he had Ill in front of his name). During the podcast, Artimus promoted me from eG to eGO. I can say that I am the only person to have been promoted on the podcast by the big man himself.

Why I'm still here: I love the guys and gals in DoD:S. They always want to play games, always want to chat, and are some of the most chill and fun people to play with.
 
So I was relatively new to PC gaming, had finally got my first PC built, was enjoying what it offered me and decided to search around for some people to hand and play with. Came across a Battlefield 4 server, which was the EdgeGamers BF4 Operation Lockers server with two people in and thought, "why not, see if it populates.."

I remember the two players were alex2142hp and an old member, ServineHunters. So after about 20 minutes of messing around and killing alex a fair few times, he dropped a message in the chat with the TS details and asked me to join so I thought, "yeah okay, i'll pop in.."

Joined, lurked a bit, answered a few questions they asked me. It was when alex actually accused me of being fishy and PunkBuster checked me and saw I was cleaned and asked if I liked to join EdgeGamers. Gave me the website details, read up on the history on EdgeGamers and actually liked the look of the community and the variety of games and where members were from. Signed up, lurked in TS for a few more hours and more and more people joined.

That's when I met people like beemermarine, jtipton, beepbeeps and a lot more other members and obviously asked a load of questions like where i was from, how long have i been playing, what other games i play and they took me all in like family and from then on i have loved every minute of my experience here in eGO.

Being able to make memories and share those memories with old, current and new members is an incredible feeling.

One memory that i remember fondly was with a few other BF members but mainly Beemermarine. So we were all trying to populate one of our servers and beemer was there lurking (as he does, as he doesn't usually talk much) and I cannot remember the topic of discussion but within a few minutes of talking a joke was made and all of a sudden beemer cracks into laughter and almost crying and says "i've been here listening to you guys and i just cannot breathe.."

Wheezing and laughing so hard we've never heard beemer laugh so much and just made us all laugh and cry and enjoy the moment we made and that will continue to be in my head whenever I think of memories with eGO.

The most emotional memory i have was recently being awarded the Battlefield Member of the Year award and was an incredible feeling and huge honour and if it wasn't for the love and support from everyone across eGO i wouldn't be where i am today. The award was not my work alone it was everyone who participated in events, forums posts, planning and support and i would like to thank everyone again for that amazing honour.

The opportunities that eGO has created for me is incredible. It was quite late on that i actually decided to contact BF leadership and request the opportunity to become Event Co-ordinator and was successfully given the opportunity to plan events with leadership and members. We created some incredible game modes, events and even some big major giveaways; Dedicated Supporter Codes, Vouchers.

We had people joining us from other divisions and even pubbers from the server requesting to join EdgeGamers and was a great opportunity to give something back to eGO for everything they have done and i will continue to love and share my ideas, not only to the BF division but other divisions as well.

Thank you eGO for everything you have given me and i will continue to love and support eGO for the years ahead!!
 
I'm gonna try and make this short. I'm not trying to enter the contest or anything but I wanted to share a quick thought.

I'm going to start many years ago... I was in high school, I played Source and other games and was always looking for a community like eGO, but back then we called them clans lol. I was lucky enough to find one and stuck with it for years and made many friends. So now that I am an adult I am happy to say that I found eGO when I was playing TTT. Communities like eGO are so rare! There are not many groups that will look for all players. Most groups look for skill or go by rank and they discrimiate based of age, gender or race. eGO is an all inclusive community! And at this point in time I am able to support eGO in every way that I wish I could have back when I was younger. I just wish more people and more groups were like this amazing community that I have grown to love over just a few months.

I want to thank everyone involved in keeping this community the way that it is. Thanks to the admins in training all the way up to the the top! Thanks to the general population (e's) for being here and being the reason a group like this exists!

I know the thoughts were erratic and all other the place but its there. Again. Thank you guys...all of you.
