No doubt about it, Valve screwed up. Valve wanted the weapons to be a reward for earning achievements, and with this command, they have more work to do. I personally would like the command to stay (not because I'm a dirty cheater) but for the people that don't have enough time to play or for the people that want to ensure that their team doesn't have too many medics by switching to another class. I would like to keep the achievements and the weapons separate so the game still has an equal playing field (It's not like we want to create a MMOFPS here) but people can still compare skill and feel accomplished with the medic achievements. If Valve had to create an award for hard working players, it could be an icon next to their name or possibly an enhanced medic skin. Take Halo 3 as an example. When you complete certain parts of the game an earn achievements, you will eventually get new armor pieces to show your "1337ness." It's better because there still is an equal playing field, so skill and not dedicating time to earning the achievements is the deciding factor in-game.
It would've been nice if Valve, instead of creating a bunch of achievements for medic, created fewer achievements but created achievements for each class. This doesn't bother me though.
