Prison M Or No Prison M

I liked it, it did have a few issues, like emptying the server. Good first map for Matz, I really did enjoy it. Matz, for your next map, get on the server and see what things make jail good, such as a vent cell, or things of that nature. I'm sure you will make great things Matz!

Hated it. No doubts.

edit: matzwhat is good guy but map is bad.

Isolation cell was pretty much a vent cell though because nobody ever checked it. Kappa

I tried to present new challenges for Ts and Cts, which require a change in tactics on both sides - and teamwork. It's a shame these challenges were given up on. I won't be making another map for eGO.

Your first map had a lot in common with my first map. You're just testing the waters; the games are functional, but the map has no real flow to it and its completely open and lacks detail. It's unfortunate that you're just giving up, but failing is how you improve yourself. My first map didn't make it on rotation either until I had Rogue Sniper completely redo it for me, turning it into the openfield we have today. The games are all the same as they were, but the map flows a lot better rather than just being a straight line from one game to a next, or an open box.

I honestly took a look at your map in hammer, and immediately just gave up when I saw a lot of brushes were off the grid. I already had to fix that when porting openfield and remaking syntax, wasn't going to go about it again.

If you cant take critiscm you'll never improve, everyone starts somewhere :)

The shame is giving up so easily.

I love adding maps to our servers that were made by our members. It's a proud moment for EGO to be able to say that a good number of our maps on our jail server were made by a member(s) of our community.

Don't let it discourage you. I've had dozens of servers flop, but we're still chugging along. Hell, Valve Maps has failed on SEVERAL occasions and it keeps coming back. Or completely ignore me, idgaf. Just hate to see someone give up so easily.

It was the most voted for map for a month straight. Haters gunna hate.

I've spent 200hrs on this map alone, and probably nearly 400hrs in eGO jail across CSS+GO. This map was the culmination of the challenging features presented in those maps, plus some new ideas. About 50 of those hours were spent implementing specific criticisms brought to me by eGO players, including the whole of v2, and v3.

All maps I make aim to be substantially different to the current rotation, so if you love the current small corridors, and closed off rooms rotation, they're probs not going to be maps you'll love. I can't do anything about that.

My latest is set in a movie studio, where a movie prison set turns into reality, and prisoners escape to explore the rest of the secrets the studio has to offer. This is not umbrella.

I took endless criticism on Prison M, from about 20 people in this community who saw it in dev. About half of the map make up is build on those criticisms - including, indeed, things other people end up complaining about. I wish people would take the map as the challenge it is, and try to beat it, whatever team you're on, rather than expect more of the same style maps. Those who embraced finding the secrets, took on the challenge of hard games, played with the scout, and worked together to get weapons/distract guards, ended up finding the map rewarding.

I don't want to rework the map to be the same as current rotation because then I'm not adding anything new or experimental. I hope the map can be back on the server, so those who did repeatedly vote for it are able to again.

At this point, I honestly have no idea what to say to you anymore. We have discussed why leadership removed your map. We had far too many complaints about the map emptying out the server, and peoples' general dislike for how things were set up. I am sorry that you feel discouraged by this, and I wish that you didn't give up on map making in general, but that is up to you. What's done is done, and there is no point in arguing it anymore. Let's put this in the past and learn from it.
