Anime What are you currently watching?

I'm currently binge-watching some You-Tube videos of people crying because they got banned.

And, yes McAurthor, I judge everyone...and find them worthy of a ban.

I've been rewatching Gurren Lagann. I've been planning on watch Attack on Titan Season 3, Cowboy Bebop, and just maybe, maybe checking out darling in the franxx. maybe

Welcome to the thread Saber! I’m just starting Darling in the Franxx as well. I watched Evangelion and Rahxephon many times so I feel obligated to

Get out while you still can. There's no hope for us, but you still have a chance.

I watched Evangelion 8 times. I’m destined to suffer from mecha shows (although I hardly consider Evangelion mecha at its core since it’s barely that.)

Agreed. It's more of a deconstruction or destruction of what a mecha show is. Gundam 08th MS was my first mecha anime, and I'm happy it was. Gundam Wing came next which looking back at, had some realllllly weird moments
:: Herro driving away from crash site, Relena looks at car that is at least a mile away by that point ::

"My name is Relena" (re-watching this scene made me look around for a paddy wagon for Relena).

The next mecha show on Toonami was G-Gundam: Well, how can you not like over the top martial arts mixed with Gundams?!

From there, I was doomed to be a Gundam person...... (look no further than the 2nd quote in my signature)

Ive been watching the Disastrous Life of Saiki K. If you havent heard of it, basically its a slice of life anime about a teenager who has psychic powers trying to live a normal life as best as he can... tho thats hardly the case. If you ask me, that is a bit of an understatement if you enjoy silly animes. Its something you'd have to see to fully understand past that simple description.

F Frosty4Rock have you ever watched the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya? It looks like a school / slice of life anime...but you'd be surprised.

Also, Simon, if Rahxephon is the show with robots that combine (like Power Rangers), but....ummmm....the combining feels REALLY GOOD to the pilots...I saw 1 episode and ran in the other direction.

Simon Simon I feel like you either ignored that to preserve the sanity of the rest of the people in this thread. That, or you just don't pay attention to mentions, one of the two.

I totally missed it! Been very busy lately aha.

I don't think that was the show... but my memory is fuzzy of it. I don't recall robots combining.

Side note... almost done Darling in the Franxx. What a bizarre ride this is.

So uhh, I don't really want to talk about it, but I want to bring it up. Goblin Slayer, I watched the first half of the first episode, and now I am scared for life. Then I watched the second half of the episode after a short break, and now I might actually watch the rest of it.

MyAnimeList originally listed this show as PG-13... the forum post was funny when people got mad about it

MyAnimeList originally listed this show as PG-13...

PG-13? You're pulling my leg, right?! The stuff that happens in that anime, rated as PG-13?! I've never felt this uncomfortable watching this anime. Even the new deadpool movies are more family friendly!

Just watched Steins;Gate 0. Oh man, when re-awake played it was amazing. Skyclad observer playing made me feel all warm inside too.

PG-13 in JAPAN maybe.

The original is still on my list... I need to get to it.

Almost done Darling in the Franxx and got a few episodes of the ReLife OVA to go.

Japan actually has two "mature content" ratings when it comes to movies. R15+ and R18+. R15+, which Goblin Slayer is likely closer too, would roughly be somewhere between our PG-13 and R, leaning closer towards R. Keep in mind that in Japanese televised media, there are different standards for what is acceptable. While in Japan TV more or less doesn't have "ratings", the movie rating system (Eirin) is a pretty good standard to go by. There is a lot of crazy stuff that is perfectly acceptable to be shown on TV that you wouldn't even believe.

As a side note, not sure why people have made such a huge deal out of those scenes in the first episode anyway. Berserk did it and people praise it to this day, as they should because it's a fantastic series. Also, keep in mind that sexual content in media is actually a lot more prevalent in Japan than it is in America. As long as they aren't actually showing anything, they can easily get away with a lot. That's why you can't really trust MAL ratings 100% of the time. Even if something looks fun and cute, it could be the craziest thing once you actually start watching.

Personally, I think Goblin Slayer is probably one of the strongest shows this season along with the Slime anime. While I'm not really defending the actions of the goblins as right or sane, but kudos to the studio for going through with it. If you're going to set a tone for a show, you either do it 100% or don't bother.

Man I was not expecting anything that I got with the first few episodes of Zombieland Saga. If you aren't hooked after the first 90 seconds, probably not your kind of show. I didn't realize this was a niche I've needed for so long.

Last one I saw was Psycho Pass, but never actually finished :/ one of my favorites I gotta say though, is Samurai Champloo <3
