Battlefield Division The Importance of Maintaining Privacy in Battlefield & Online

Hey Everyone,

Playing with our friends / acquaintances online is fun without a doubt, but keep in mind the people you meet online and even those you play with regularly may not always be the same person in-person as you you know on-line. Maintaining a healthy or at least a small degree of separation between your online life and real life and keeping your privacy protected should always be something you consider before sharing too many personal details online.

Just as an example, I wanted to bring up a former EGO member, who was banned (for obvious reasons) last night making threats to a current member, after getting killed multiple times. (See screenshot below). It's always important to be conscientious of your privacy settings to avoid situations like the one below.

Suggestions :

- Remove your First Name and Last Name from showing in Origin when someone attempts to look up your profile in game or via Origin.

- Review your privacy settings in Facebook to avoid oversharing in other online profiles.

- Google your real name, and try to keep personal details from being shared from other organizations that allow their entire site to be cataloged.

- Make sure your home address, and other location information is stripped from images that may be geo-tagged, and do not appear online on other sites.

I have always had my real name, picture, and location on my steam profile, not a fan of anonymity, makes for bad interactions. Probably why a lot of people and (ex)members end up saying the n-word and doing whatever they want, then saying how sorry they are and eGO is the best server and they didn't mean it. They wouldn't make that mistake if their name, and job was tied to their online interactions. I wouldn't say anything online I wouldn't say in real life.
But I can see why it is better to play it safe, as there are some crazy people in this world.

I strongly agree. My name is out there, or not hard to get, but I also find that people are a whole lot more civil if they know that they're not anonymous.
