Yesterday we were presented with a problem in our public server. They made it apparent to us that 100% of the time they were on, the roleplay consisted of 'occasional' good roleplay with cops/mechanics. Their solution to this problem was to create a white-listed server during prime time (5est to 8est ? could be wrong on the time excuse me) on certain days of the week.

With the creation of the white-listed server has pros and it has cons.

Pros ?
1. You can rejoin the server because you are whitelisted
2. Possibly less wait times because the server won?t be full
3. ELS vehicles
4. Trainers will be allowed
5. Zero VDM / RDM (I am sure there will be cases where people will be upset about certain scenarios)

Cons ?
1. Public server will suffer because all the good ?RPers? will be on the whitelisted server
2. Public server will be more ?shit? because most likely all the good players/admins will be on the whitelisted server
3. During the timeframe of the whitelisted server, the possible recruits we could get would go down because people would be focused more on whitelist
4. Different database, it will not link to the public server.
5. You?ll need to go through an interview process, meaning you?ll have to fill out a form to be accepted to the whitelisted server.

We?ve spoken to a few regulars and have found this to not be the case about the server being 100% fail all the time, we?ve spoken to a few other cops and their main concerns is when they get dropped from the server, they can't get back in because its full and they are replaced by randoms who may not be wanting to roleplay. It has been noticed that most of the problems arise when there is a lack of staff and police on the server.

Leadership has discussed the possibilities of a white-listed server and we don't feel we are ready yet. We've seen multiple communities go from 2 full nonstop servers to 1 server and a white-listed server. Once they changed, their community suffered. We are not ready for that, nor do we want to put our player base in jeopardy.

However, this does not mean that we are totally against the idea of a white-listed server. The idea behind a white-listed server is great and can bring great roleplay for players to enjoy. We are looking forward to the feedback from our members like we always do and can definitely keep building this idea as we move forward and possibly implement in the weeks or months to come.

In the mean time, we've decided we are going to allow our admins to 'kick' nonmembers out of the server to make room for admins, cops, EMS, and our regular civs. Additionally, we are wanting to push out recruitment for our public safety agencies so we can grow those more so when a white-listed server is introduced, we are better prepared to also handle things on the main server. We have also introduced several new admins and promoted some of our dedicated eG's so we can have more admins on the server taking care of punks.

If you feel this is NOT the right approach please post below your comments and suggestions of why you think we should do it a different way.

I support a white-listed server, and only a white-listed server. Simply for the same reasons already listed.
We already have a membership application to get into eGO, so I don't know why it would be any different for us to simply take requests to get into our white-listed GTA server.
Adding two servers would only split our player-base more, and I think it will come down to dedicated members will play on our white-listed server and create a positive ecosystem as a whole. The cons simply put the reasons why we should just have one white-listed server. I will say that the cons are simply why we shouldn't run two servers, and just focus our efforts on the single one.

If we went only whitelist, I predict it would not last long. I would have never found this community if my boy Salto never told me. I doubt he would have ever looked here if it was whitelisted. The problem with whitelist only is people do not know how good the community is unless they get in and experience it. I talk to guys frequently who say they planned on getting on just to screw around, actually enjoyed their experience and are now regulars.

The fine balance of how to whitelist things are difficult. I am glad you guys are looking into it and that it’s either a scheduled thing or 2 servers!!

My suggestion would be that if we ran 2 servers with one whitelisted, we could have a dedicated recruiting team to populate the non whitelist server. I’d help where I could on the non whitelist but with afternoons and early evenings still pretty sparse we need more people.

Great points.
