Need suggestions for budget build.

Looking to make a budget PC for gaming. Price budget is $300 for the actual PC (not including peripherals). Any suggestions? If anyone here has already done such a build in the past, a full list of parts and specs would be most useful.

I think your budget may be unrealistic. You will not be able to get really anything in that range at all. If you want a "gaming" PC on a budget with the current market, I think you'll want at least a grand.

At your point I would suggest a maybe a laptop or increasing your price, 300 is just a no can do.

One thing I have to say is getting an i5 or/and a 1050 ti, those 2 parts right now are really cheap

i5's are the go-to bang for your buck cpu, and skip the 1050 ti, just go for a 1060 3gb model.

Too bad 1060 3GB goes for 300 alone. I am still rocking a 1050ti and it runs games great at 1080p AMA.

True, but a 1050 ti goes for 200, and a 1060 3gb, the lowest i've seen is 275.

$300 in today's market is unrealistic. You MAY be able to do a $500 rig, but you're going to be making a lot of compromises that, to me, would be better off just saving enough money for a better rig. The best you can do with a $300 budget is maybe buying a pre-made system from ebay or craigslist, and about 3-4 generations behind on part.

We can?t really work with it though. You will have to keep saving for a bit longer man, there just isn?t really anything we can do with that little amount of money in the current market. Like it was said above, you might be able to get something off eBay or craigslist but it would be extremely out of date. Other than that, we would be lucky to get 2-3 parts to build this, and they would not be good parts. Sorry

What about building a PC now, going with the internal intel graphics of the i5 (it will run source games fine) and buy the Graphics Card a few months later? Imho you wont be able to build a "pc for gaming" with $300...

Then the simplest advice: Don't build. Save your money up so you can actually get a system that will last more than a year after you build it. That, or search ebay and craigslist and get lucky that way. $300 + gaming PC do not go together. $500 is even stretch, but barely doable.

The alternative: buy a console as they'll fit your price range.

Thanks. One spot that might be improved on though is the Hard drive. I already have a 4-TB external drive, so the on-board one doesn't have to be a whole TB.

Yeah, i just figured you would need one for everthing. And by the way, you should be able to upgrade the cpu to something better, the cpu socket is am4 after all.

Yeah, but what do you expect for 300? The gpu can be added late, but it will get the job done for a while, and ryzen would have been too expensive for this price point.

If you can, find a 7200 rpm drive, it'll be a bit faster if you can sacrifice some storage.

Should I concern myself with the speed of the main drive if all my stuff will be on the external drive? Also there's the option of getting an even smaller one and making it an OS-only drive.
