There is an article in The Guardian about Facebook that i found interesting. I myself despise these fake social networks for different reasons, ethical in nature, but they make some good arguments of a different nature.

While the author of that article makes many valid points, none of them strike me as anything more than alarmist.

The government will get information about you whether or not you buy in to social networking.

You are being stereotyped and demographed everywhere you go.

For people like me, who just moved 900 miles from my hometown, and whose friends are all in different colleges, things like this are tools to help us keep in touch. A social networking site is not supposed to replace real interaction, for those of us who aren't "addicts", it's simply a tool to help us share photos, and keep in touch.


The point of my post was not to start a debate about social sites, it was to say: hey, we have a group on facebook, join if you've got a facebook. thanks.

I'd rather not debate the relative merits and/or wacko conspiracy theories associated with social networks, but simply stick to the topic, which is to say that Facebook is a good way to get more exposure for eGO and to extend our community even further.

Just go to the groups application, and you should be able to search "Edge Gamers Organization".
