Are you a good sniper?

I'm OK at sniper. There are days where I dominate but then there are days where I can't hit the broadside of a barn. I kill Kaela every now and then. I almost killed her twice in a row once! :P On a normal day I have a slightly above 1 kpd ratio.

I have to say Kaela, at least on 2fort map. she racks up insane amount of points from being a sniper (headshot after headshot), and its almost impossible to kill her. i only managed to kill her couple times by spamming the battlement with explosives, or i got really lucky as a sniper. When i was playing as scout on 2fort, i mentioned her insane sniping skill. she replied "i suck" and bamm, my scout dopped to the floor dead while crossing the bridge doing crazy zig zag move.

p.s. my first post!!!!!!

Kaela Thinks shes a good sniper but still deny that she is (: i think thatguy is a GREAT sniper (:

I'm just decent at sniper now. I used to be a lot better but I haven't been playing TF2 much lately.

Thatguy and fuse are pretty amazing snipers; I just haven't seen enough people play to throw out any more names. :(

I went 41-3 as sniper at one point tonight, lillGIL made it 41-4, so I'll toss his name in this post, too. ;)

I rarely play sniper. I got 26 hours of sniper for some weird reason though.
I can't kill anything in close combat and I can barely get a headshot.
Most of the time I'm just running 'round dreaming about stuff and how I'm gonna get killed the next time.
That's right, I'm not just sitting somewhere and wait until somebody comes so I can headshot them, that's kinda boring in my opinion.
Maybe that's my problem? I don't know.
I do however report my team when a heavy comes in
(hey I'm even too stupid to kill them, these pesky and slow Bigheads) or when a disguised Spy is incoming.
That doesn't help much though because I don't have a working mic.

I think I'm a decent, but I need to get my reflexes going, and I have nights that I play the best of a team, and I have night that I'm on a 0-14 streak... I really think ThatGuy, Fuse and firethem are the best snipers of eGO

I wouldn't say I'm good or great, I'd rather say I'm an effective sniper. I'm a good enough shot that missing comes as a surprise, and I shoot enough that running out of ammo is not an unusual occurrence.

I enjoy the game through strategy as much as skill, and I consider the sniper as much a support class as medic or spy, requiring tactical application.
Unfortunately I and other snipers get most recognition from the enemy instead of our team.
I know that I've encouraged many a class switch in the enemy, and its a typical and thankless day when a soldier runs through 8 enemies without dying thinking he's unstoppable because I've been in the distance picking off the health of anyone he's duking it out with.

Next time you wade through a slew of enemies and they all go down a little easier than usual, just hit tab, and thank the sniper looking over your soldier that didn't wait for the full charge and the guaranteed kill.

I used to play sniper almost exclusively back in my TFC and DOD days and I was goood. These days, I'd say that I'm a mediocre sniper, though. I have my good days and my bad days. In fact, somewhere I have a screen shot of me at 24-0 as a sniper on our 2Fort server. I think I ended that night at 40-something and 5. I rarely play sniper though, since 1) there are better snipers than me, and 2) most teams usually have an abundance of snipers.

I usually only play sniper when it seems that there's a particular need for one. And then only long enough to kill the enemy sniper a few times so that they get the point. IE, if I get sniped three times coming out of the door to the respawn, I'll switch to sniper and take the guy out. On the whole, though, I tend to prefer other classes these days. Maybe I would actually get better if I played sniper more often, though.

As far as good snipers, I had a fun duel with Firethem night before last on a pub server. I even dominated him at one point. :D Although he got me back when I crossed enemy lines to try to machete him. He truly is the master of the machete.

I think all of the other good snipers that I've played with have already been mentioned.

I can hold my own when im sniping. and im still getting better(at least i hope).

my idea of being a good sniper or a good anything is pretty much in this question. "am i an asset to my team? if i wasn't playing right now would i make a difference?" in my opinion ThatGuy is a great asset to a team. he reports pretty much everything he sees. he is really the only sniper i've played with or against so i dont have a broad spectrum of snipers here at eGO.

I consider myself a competent sniper, but I just don't have the focus of the "legends" we've got around here. Maybe if I played the class more often I'd get there, but I look around and see 5-6 snipers on my team and decide I'd be better off going any other class.

When I do get the luxury of "being useless" as Duck and I have taken to calling it, I have fun. I can manage to get pretty decent strings of headshots.

Also, good snipers need to focus on assisting in objectives rather than just thinning out the enemies. While I appreciate a sniper that can kill half the other team (and make everyone else's job easier), I'd really like to see one whip over and shoot that medic crossing the bridge with the intel on Convoy. Always makes my day when they shoot one in mid-jump and the intel falls off.

The best siper on 2fort right now is kaela. Ive seen her get up to 600 points before.

Which probably makes me the best Heavy on 2fort, since I ended a round today with 560~ points and about 40 dominations, sad part being the fact that I forgot to take the ending screenshots. :( I only have some with 400~ points.

As for Snipers, I have yet to see one which is owning everywhere. Kaela is great on 2fort, ThatGuy on Warpath, but I don't know any who is great on all maps.

I'm pretty decent.

Alpha one is definitely good.

My best score (single life) is 49 points, 27 kills and 19 headshots, on third stage of dustbowl defense.

Fuse and I have had some great sniper wars, but I think thatguy is way better than me. My skills have gone to crap though since I rarely find time to play for more than 5 minutes.

:D <3 sniper

thatguy > us all (at least on warpath)

actually, ive killed thatguy more than he's killed me so... :)

Thatguy you humble me by saying that I am a great sniper. Fuse gets me if he gets the best of me ;). Kaela and I have gone headshot to headshot on 2Fort(I miss playing with you K.) Ninjachicken has gotten exceptionally better since I joined ego.On convoy though, I love it. Ask anyone around who plays convoy with me.

In my opinion, what constitutes an amazing sniper is 3 things.
1. The ability to be unseen before the target sees or can hurt/killyou.
2. The ability to do what is needed for the team. examples. To kill a heavy on the attacking side on goldrush is a must. If you can't do that then you need not be a sniper. Convoy to kill a scout jumping in mid air while running with your teams intel. Warpath to hold one side of the cap point long enough for teammates to either catch up or cap the point. (I think my point is given now.)
3. THE MOST IMPORTANT. To relay any and all info on enemy movement via voice or text.

A good sniper shouldn't be egotistical, just logical. Headshot after headshot after headshot only proves one thing, as a sniper. you are playing for points, not the team.
