Efficiency IV/V creates invisible blocks that suffocate you

Please describe the issue in as much detail as possible.
Efficiency IV on a diamond pickaxe mining netherrack, efficiency IV on a diamond shovel mining anything (dirt, gravel, etc), and efficiency V on any diamond tool renders them completely useless. Due to their quick mining speeds (which is what you want) the server doesn't seem to register that you're actually mining the blocks. As a result, even if you mine just one block at a time, they become 'invisible' client-side. Because you mined them so they should be. This then allows you to literally walk right through them since the client thinks they aren't there anymore, and then proceed to suffocate to death, because any further movement results in severe 'rubber banding' with no actual progress, since the server thinks you're standing inside a wall. The only way to prevent dying from suffocation if this happens is to teleport away, unless you're lucky and actually manage to move backwards out of the wall the server thinks you're in.

Place efficiency IV on a diamond shovel or efficiency V on a diamond anything and mine with them.

I've been on plenty of servers in the past that don't have this issue. Even another that I currently play on doesn't have a problem with efficiency V tools.
