I searched the forums and came up empty handed; I want to know what guys and gals do for a living! Even if you're still a student, post and tell us your major or what you plan on going into!

I'll start:

Currently, I am still a student, although I have a pretty cool internship over the summer. I will be entering my 3rd year at Miami University (in ohio), double majoring in Chemical Engineering and Paper Science. Woo!

Over the summer, I am interning at Lexmark International (the printer company.) I am basically here as a paper guru (I know a lot about paper physics, properties, papermaking... don't even ask, haha) helping out some of the engineers in gauging how paper reacts in a printing environment. It's decent experience; boring at times, but that just allows for more forum browsing!

Now, let us know what YOU do!

Edit: I just realized this should probably be in the off-topic section :\. If a moderator could move it there I'd be grateful!

Director of IT for a law school.

Lots of boring tech support, not at all what I'd choose to do, but it pays well.

Ah cool. Big/small law school? I can imagine that the bigger it gets, the more boring work you get :D

I don't have the exact number in front of me, but we enroll between 50-60 for each of the four yearly L1 starts. The rare occasion that I get to delve into code make me happy, but mostly it's dealing with people too stupid to be using computer. It terrifies me to think they will one day hold law degress.

I work at my college, Kent State University, as a Lab Tech in the engineering department. I'm currently going to school here for my electronics engineering degree and I'm a Softmore. After I get my associates, I plan on stepping up the ball game with getting my A++ Certification and soon after trying to get my Net+. My longtime goal is to get a job at Diebold, where my godfather works, and help them with their equipment
-or-
Start my own computer business where I fix and build and sell PC's.

This summer, I plan on expanding my server (which i currently run a World of Warcraft Server for my own knowledge of C++ and Database designs and editing). I am also in the session of a diet, so I also plan on doing some exercising to help shed these extra pounds I'm carrying in my gut. (Fiber Diet, wOOt!)

That is seriously awesome. My main community service that I participate in is serving people with disabilities. Much respect for that.

I'm in the same boat as Afterburn. When I finish I up I hope to go to Texas A&M for Mechanical Engineering.

Johns Hopkins University Medical Student

Though I was a baker for 10 years before starting med school, and have also done everything from carpentry to telemarketing to therapeutic foster care.

Good thread.

I'm studying for my Bachelor's degree in Network Systems Administration. Hopefully, it'll enable me to make da monies, as they say.

Currently paying for college by loading televisions into people's cars working for a now-bankrupt Circuit City. May be finding another job soon.

I am currently not working because I'm in the process of moving to College Station, Texas to attend A&M and major in Geology.

I did work in an animal shelter for 5 years before this, though.

Im a senior in high school and am going off to California University of Pennsylvania for technology education in the fall. Im currently working at a convience store/gas station/fast food chain called Sheetz if anyone has ever heard it.

I'm a programmer/data analyst in the Institutional Research department at a university in Southern Georgia. I pull data from transactional and historical data sources and provide analysis of that data to university constituents. I also work on a couple of more IT related projects to help out our under staffed IT department. Now that I think about it what IT department isn't understaffed ;)

i'm currently a freelance systems securities/network admin/tech support/computer builder for several small businesses down here, as well as a music minister in a fairly small church. before i moved down here a few years ago i worked for a medical devices company and tech support/network administration for the University of Delaware.

apparently there are quite a few of us tech geeks roaming about :-) i really enjoy participating in the tech threads and hearing everyone's advice/opinions.

I have one year left before I get my RN license, and I am the Materials Coordinator for outpatient surgery/GI lab/Minor procedures at a large level 1 trauma center. When I'm not doing that I have two kids, two and four.

I really like the feedback so far. Good stuff. Just based on this thread i know who to PM if I REALLY need some computer help =P

Although we have a lot of tech geeks we also have a wide variety of jobs.. software engineer for a defense contractor? Wow! Music minister- that's really cool as well.

Keep em coming!
