Basically I don't see why selective roofs on the map are considered map exploits when there is a level of skill to get there, meanwhile the trees and the spawn roofs are more of exploits. Either none should be considered exploits or all of them should. In my opinion none of them should or if any are it would be the trees and the spawn roofs as the others require good jumps to get there

As an admin, I'm only certain of two roofs being considered a Map Exploit as pointed out in the rules.

Apehouse: Getting on the roof of the main-building, whether by prop-surfing, or jumping on top, is not allowed. This also includes the small roof on left side when facing the front of the main building. However, the roof on the right hand side is NOT considered a map exploit, as it brings no tactical advantage for players.
It states "Getting on the roof of the main-building, whether by prop-surfing, or jumping on top, is not allowed. This also includes the small roof on left side when facing the front of the main building." This very clearly highlights which roofs are considered a map exploit, which in the current version of apehouse are blocked off by invisible walls.

However, I have heard that the small, side roof above the door on the right side next to the white care on the right hand building, while facing the front of the buildings, but I have only heard it through the grapevine and have not seen anything about that location being "off-limits" elsewhere aside from another admin telling me that another admin said it wasn't allowed.

How I see the rules, it clearly states that only two roofs are strictly prohibited, but it also specifies which roof is allowed. It does not prohibit being on other roofs, but it also doesn't necessarily allow it. Personally, I don't see an issue with any other roofs aside from the main building, but that's just me.

well in the old apehouse you could get outside the map im not sure about this one but I assume theirs a similar advantage

This version of apehouse was specifically tailored to match, now defunct, pG's rules. This version, as an update to the old one without the playground set, added a barrier above the main building roof to prohibit people from getting onto it.

getting on the lower roof of the right house is allowed as you get their by jumping on the ledges

Is this the map I updated?

Send me a list of rooftops (with screenshots) and I'll let you know if it's exploit or not.

The only roof that should be off limits and would be only be obtainable by using an exploit are the top of the attics on any of the buildings. Otherwise no surfing or exploits are needed just a skill jump

Yeah those r fine by me.

I didn't place a clip brush there 4 a reason

idk if its pure coincidence or just never been changed, but straight up, word-for-word that ruling was made by me for eGO ttt back in the day like 2 years ago on the OLDER version of the map. It needs some updating and proper clarifications as the newer map has many more roofs that are accessible.

The current version was modified by Drewerth to address those issues stated. Everywhere on the map is essentially free game unless drew says otherwise

well in my opinion on this new version of apehouse there is not really many exploits left but those you talk about exploiting those are just to jump on ledges and tree branches to get up there that is really esay and simple if you know how to climb or strafe it

It's a shame I don't have the acreenshot anykore but essentially, anything I didn't want anyone on has a big solid invisible block on it.

Can I edit it again? Yeah. If need be.

Hmm and who still exploited it

Is the main issue even being addressed?

WHY are they considered exploits, when it simply takes skilljumps to get there?
Also, if it's an exploit, then wouldn't the trees and the other roofs be too?

What are the differences?

I think that's what Scourge meant, but if not - I'm still curious lmao

Like I said, if it's not blocked off with a world clip I personally didn't consider it an exploit when working on the map.

Yep this shouldn't be considered an exploit in my opinion. This jump doesn't give one a huge advantage as both players can still kill and be killed. Skilled players can get to this spot and ID bodies that can get stuck on the roof.

Exploits are those that can be game breaking. As in you exit the map non-traditionally or you're under the map or in a spot where no one else can see you or get to you. One way exploits where I see you and you cant see me. Spots that the mappers didn't intend to allow.

Considering Drewerth just stated he left these jumps possible in the updated version then they should be allowed as part of the game.
