Right now especially after CSGO became free to play and hackers have multiple accounts, they are coming back on and just overall disrupting the server. The worst I've seen is a dude came on saying who wants the server to crash and actually slowed it down to the point where if an eGO wasn't on at that exact time it would've closed. This is why I am saying eG's should be able to get temp-ban permissions at most 15-30 minutes and should be held accountable to ban notes and consequences if they abuse this as well. The two main reasons being

A. Can control the server if no eGO's are on
B. Good practice for if / when they get promoted to eGO
C. Buying 5$ membership unlocks this power, and anyone who plays the server knows the vote is pretty much is gonna be in favor against the perpetrator

I'm gonna give the perspective a longtime admin/DL (Sr. Mgr) regarding this - as said in many ways and many times, eGs are training/junior/probationary admins, as most need time to fully grasp the mechanics and intricacies to be a respectable full admin. If you were promoted to eG, that means your LE sees you as someone who could do that. However, the training period is there for a reason. I've seen members plateau at eG and never seem to get the hang of it, and I've personally experienced eGs who are promoted to eGO within a week of getting eG.

There are some situations where even the most experienced admins can make a mistake. I bet any eGO+ has a time they made an error. Who knows how many times I banned a person for reason "14400" and a time of "admin disrespect". eGs who just started out training only having the ability to kick people minimizes long-term damages from the group that is most likely to make innocent mistakes, as inevitably they will, but that's the point, is to learn from mistakes and higher ranked admins.

The suggestion that they only be able to ban up to 30min/1hr is a good middle ground, but in reality, the process has been in place for a long time for eGs to deal with situations that need a ban. Also, I would highly encourage eGs use the most powerful admin tool: the Mute (in non hacker/game griefing situations). There has been a lot of emphasis lately as well to not outright ban people permanently, as most infractions don't warrant it. There's little different in doing a request on the forums at that point.

I can totally understand the wish to have ban power when there is a troublemaker around and no eGO+ in sight or reach, but dealing with the situation in the correct manner as an eG helps show your LE that you are capable and ready to be promoted. As a wise member of LE once told me (paraphrased slightly) - "If we wanted an eG to be able to ban people, they would be an eGO" .

No one is saying eG should get full ban privaliges and its a training phase BUT
Dedicated Supporter (yes the 5$ subscription per month) gives you powers to both kick and ban for 30 minutes. On CSGO votebans are a joke I've seen dudes been votebanned for
A. the wrong reason from even the most basic stuff like not swapping on CT
B. Not putting in a reason for the ban will still get the ban to pass through

Hell I'll even demonstrate this get an advisor to ban my alt account which isn't part of eGO and it'll pass through

i agree with Jacko For let's be honest here yeah people hack and all that shit, and we hate it so what its not hard to get a 2 min proof of a video then make a ban request if you have vote ban as a vip use it, for being a eG is an admin in trial to see if he or she deserved to get that promotion yeah i know it sucks to make 5-15 ban request a day but look from the positive side they will get banned and they wont be on the server anymore, you are only doing the server and yourself a good thing to come, if you want to have those powers to ban prove yourself to it prove that you are worthy to get a bigger responsibillite (got no clue if that is wrote right) yeah we had alot of threads about this its being going back and forth but, if i have to say its not worth to give eG ban power for why do we call eG for admin in training then it could just be a full admin then, its the same. and its the same as a manager for i believe manager have less power than a senior and then forth. The only thing you should be focused on is to make the server clean and make a better reputation for yourself and you will most likely get promoted again, and the other thing just keep up your hard work, it sucks though but who tf cares right, as long as people are happy that you are doing something to make something different to the servers or just 1 specific server then they will be glad and happy for you. There is a secret too those that aren't admin they dont know the hard work we actually do until they get those powers too feel it.

I hope i inspired some people by this for i really suck at writing in English when it comes to this so i also hope it made kinda some sense

But $5 can get you voteban powers in what world does it make sense to give even players that were ousted from the community the power to voteban. CSGO is your divison and you know votebans go through regardless of a fair reason or not

^.

Whether or not you believe abuse happens, it's still questionable at best to give DS (it doesn't matter who it is, if you donate 5/month you get DS) voteban perms and not have eG's also have something of that nature.

I really don't understand why they wouldn't even have full ban?

pG had Juniors have full bans and there were genuinely little to no issues with it. If you don't trust them why promote them? I feel like this is an arbitrary restriction for the sake of providing value to the O rank, with excuses on basis of trust being thrown out. If you can't trust your admin to make the call to ban someone, what's the difference between a kick and a ban, if in the case that the ban is invalid it can be removed?

I'm not saying the community should just be pG or like it just because it merged, but the concept is proven to work given the circumstance near identicality in structure.

Having all your bases covered is good, and if people don't feel safe with an eG on the server specifically because they can't remove a player for an extended period of time specifically because they didn't pay $5 USD. Then what's the point of having G's?

Yeah eGs should have ban perms. Obviously I'm baised because that's how it was in pG lol. Just my opinion

I was trying to find a way to put this in my original post, but I couldn't find the right spot, but basically:

Being able to buy admin powers, even a voteban, is awful and should never be done. DS should only be for voluntary benefits which don't affect gameplay in the slightest. Admins are admins, and eGOs+ are the only admins who should be able to ban.

eGs are admins-in-training, and they don't get that ability until LE decides to promote them. What people have experienced in other groups has no bearing in eGO.

So now it's a bit of a dilemma

Either remove voteban perms from DS (I don't think many dedicated ego players would care much but I do see this having a negative effect financially)

Or give eGs tempban / voteban to balance it out

I really don't want DS to get that perk removed. They paid to have those perks (voteban is one of the major factors in purchasing DS) and revoking it because of "fairness" doesn't seem right to me.

I imagine it being the equivalent of since Timmy isn't getting toys but Billy is, the solution would be to take Billy's toys until Timmy gets toys. That's not a good solution and it really punishes the goose for the gander.

Also on the note of "admin in training": banning is apart of the eGO admin experience. Why are eG's forced to go through the ban request system to get someone banned for obvious hacking or intense abuse? It's slow and tedious and it ruins the experience for everyone. It's a form of gatekeeping that's unneeded.

If you are willing to trust someone with the keys to the mansion but won't let him lock the door, are you helping or hurting him?

What’s your reasoning behind that

Some admins don't know rules and I don't want to get banned because they did a mistake or something. And I think it would be a good time because vip's have a 30min vote ban.

Also it hasn't been that bad lately imo.

Like Meowcenaries mentioned eG's are 'admin-in-trial'. We don't give Juniors server bans to prevent abuse of power. eG's are promoted because we THINK they have the potential to be successful admins.

We need to first see how they handle simple powers like muting and kicking because we won't truly know if someone is power abusive until they are given certain admin privileges.

However there are cases where an extremely abusive player needs to be taken off the server immediately and there isn't always an eGO at hand. A compromise is to allow the eG to at the very least have voteban so if the majority of players deem someone unfit for the server they will vote him off the island.

In the past I have always found " Vote Bans or Kicks " to be useless on Heavy Metal BFBC2 server , and if a few trouble makers are on at the same time they can get someone kicked or banned if they have the majority of the votes . Being an =(eG)= I find it really annoying at times spending 1/2 a round or more just kicking someone over and over and over .....etc , to see that person come in with a different name and do the same thing again , or just have him / her quit and rejoin with a different name so they end up on the other team and do the same thing all over again , has happened to me twice now and I had to keep quitting server and coming back on so I could switch teams to witness what he/she was doing , not very fun trying to admin when this happens .

But I do see the need for =(eG)='s to have only so many privileges so they can learn and be observed on how they manage those privileges and to make sure they do not abuse their powers , I find a lot of times admins are too quick to want to kick or ban someone when that person can learn with just a couple of warnings or just being kicked once .

The flip side of the coin to the last part of my previous comment is " if =(eG)= had a 30min or 1hr tban it would show if they managed their privileges properly or not and/or if they abused them " , it would be that much more of an indicator if they are ready to be promoted or not .

If an admin is unaware of the rules, then leadership needs to be made aware so this admin can be spoken to and retrained.

I agree with major eG"s should have time ban, some players just won't stop and come back destroying the game for others that just leave the game because of it

Lemme just hop on here and say my 2 cents. I'm eG with DS. I have used my DS powers at one point or another to vote ban, when no O's were on.

I believe that giving eG's permission to ban would be good, as long as it gets turned off/they are not allowed to use it when an O is on and active (not AFK in spec, like many do).

Would love to see more response from leadership (not in the sense of: this is going to happen but just general discussion on the idea)!
