So, as many of you are aware, there have been a few bugs on some servers where the map won't change. Allowing the players with their O to change maps would fix this, obviously this can be temporary until the bug fixes itself. Admins with the =(eGO)= Tag, have the permission to ban players permanently, I don't see why they don't have a few other permissions such as changing maps. This would need to be taught to players how to properly do this. I don't know how many times the map has failed to change, they see I am a full admin, they ask me to change the map. I tell them I can't. Most responses are something like "Why can't you change it, that's dumb" "your a full admin but can't change maps???" and stuff like that. The only downside to this that I can see is if admins abuse it, but there are other things that they could abuse that would be 10x worse.
This would help the server by the map changing and players not being stuck on the same map for 1-2 hours because of a glitch and no managers+ are available.
Now if there is a reason that egos do not have it then i apologize and this thread can be closed.

I myself have not experienced the bug, and 100% agree with E EpicFlamingos on this. It will be abused way to fast. We have amazing admins but the judgment calls made will not be on the good side of things, I cannot see this going in a good direction

Grumpy, do you feel this way about it being AT only and maybe ECs?

I've experienced this bug a handful of times and as frustrating and annoying as it can be, I'm going to have to agree with Epic.
Allowing all O level admins to force change the map on command would abused under the guise of, "This map is broken too so I'm going to change it."
I'm +1 for AT's and EC's having the power since they are more trusted than regular O level admins. And yes, they're obviously not going to be able to hop on every time the map does not change but I can't see anyone else having this power.

I'm not quite sure why everyone is so focused on abuse. What "judgement calls"? It's simple. If the map was supposed to change either by rtv/time, it will go to the loading screen for the "next map" but loads the same map. If that happens, then admin initiates a map vote for a new map, then changes the map to it manually. Where is there room for "judgement"? If the map was supposed to change and it does, then admin doesn't change the map until the bug happens again and they initiative a map vote manually, then manually change the map to the winning one. It's 100% fair, it streamlines the process and lets people play what they voted for.

As you all have said, I don't believe every eGO should have access to it. As I mentioned previously, pick a couple of people who spend a lot of time in server to solve the issue. Whatever rank they may be. I'm sure there has to be at least a couple people who frequent the server that can be trusted with a trial period, that may not even last long at all. If tech can figure it out, take the ability away again. Do you guys not trust your admins around here? I get that abuse happens, I've been admin of a couple clans myself. I've seen it. But there are ways to work around it and keep it in check. Letting your server take an L, is not one of them.

I have to disagree with you. The power to change maps is strictly being given to combat the bug, not maps being broken. And if it were to be abused in that way, regulars on the server like myself can step up and report it. Now honestly, I'm not on it a ton as I am a busy person IRL. But I would gladly dedicate more of my gaming time to the server to help reassure tabs are being kept. I have an unbiased view. Idk any of you and just want to help the community/servers. But honestly, I think you are all being way too paranoid about abuse NotLikeThis

I want to believe that this would only be used for changing maps when it was supposed to already change, but I don't believe for a second it would stay that way. If we gave it to all O's somehow it would turn into changing it when a map bugs, through server pressure "OMG ADMIN PLEASE CHANGE IT THIS MAP IS BROKEN" or people starting rumors "Well leadership said we can change it if x happens" (even though LE probably didn't say anything)

You're right, there are people who are trusted, called ATs and ECs. Problem solved.

Also, when you say "trust your admins" its not so much about not trusting them. In terms of power, O's are promoted with being able to ban in mind, not whether or not they can change the map on the server. So you can't say "do you not trust your admins" when no one was even thinking about whether or not SOMEDAY they would get the power to change maps. They were trusted with the power to ban. It's also the fact that over time some people just stop caring. Maybe when they were promoted they were good and trusted, but over time people stop caring as much about the community, and it's generally those people who are like "Well I don't really care at all so I'm just gonna change the map yolo"

As I've said, give it to one or two people, whoever they are. I didn't specify O's, or ATs, or ECs. Nor did I say to give it to "all" of anyone. I also said to run a trial with said "one or two people". So the whole "somehow it would turn into" thing? Is likely not to happen and if it does, you revoke it. The problem with just giving it to ATs or ECs or Os or whoever, is are they active on the server? Are they active enough to reply when people PM them to come help? If not, it's completely irrelevant. Maybe give an O or two a part time promotion. There must be at least one or two O's that are currently being looked at for possible promotion? If so, maybe give them the part time chance here to prove themselves.

Also, when you say "trust your admins" its not so much about not trusting them. Again, it's not about wanting or thinking about getting to change maps. It's about we have a problem, it needs a solution. It IS about trust. If you can't pick a couple of people that you could say you trust with the responsibility to take care of this problem part time?... Then I think there's bigger issues at hand. Again, as I've asked multiple times and no one has answered. Are there ATs or ECs that frequent the Bhop server? Because if there are, fantastic! There's really nothing to discuss then. If there aren't, then either it needs to be solved on the server/tech end, or a compromise needs to be made

unfortunately this would be abused regardless of who we gave it to.

You responded to what he said about me saying that giving it to all Os would be questionable because of their judgment. In that context it's reasonable to assume that you were also talking about all admins. Seems like you're just trying to argue for the sake of arguing at this point. People have proposed solutions to the things you're saying (ATs and ECs being the trusted ACTIVE admins that can change the map)

You actually asked once from what I can see. I know peloc and Divine frequent the server a lot. Theres your 2 trusted admins. One is leadership and one is an EC and just got community spotlight.

I also think you're still confusing this with being a fix. It's not a fix, it's to help make the problem less severe.

Below, you will see me asking another time in a prior page of the thread. Thank you, though. I also am not confusing this as being a fix, as you can see below.

And deslimn, the certain members would be those that have proven that they are trust worthy, like the admin trainers and event coordinators as epic stated

Right, I understand that. Are they active on the server in question, though? If so, great. If not, not sure how that helps much. It's currently a permanent issue that would require a bit of a constant helping hand. I was playing on Bhop with a few members/admins the other night and they were saying that the tech team knew about the bug, but haven't been able to squash it yet. So as you(3dsam1) suggested, a temporary change in some peoples permissions who are very active on the server is a good idea, whoever it may be. At least until the issue gets fixed on the tech side

As for peloc and Divine being active? Great! Happy to hear. I played with both of them the other night. Which solved the issue of the map problem during that time. It was a good time :thumbup1:

Seems like you're just trying to argue for the sake of arguing at this point

I could say the same about you. I genuinely care about the issue at hand and am at least putting in the effort to be sure of what I'm saying, before saying it CoolStoryBob

Could*

Yes, it "could" be abused by anyone. No matter what their rank. Which is why trust is important. That's why you keep tabs. Let people prove themselves. If it goes out of hand, it's really easy to handle.

You said "I asked multiple times and got no response" and proceeded to put one time you asked, also the only time in the thread you asked.

You sure about that bud? Seems like you don't really know what you're talking about at all based on your posts in this thread. Keep having a condescending attitude though. :thumbup1:

I'm locking this. We won't be giving this to O's. It will be abused and we will speak with Tech to attempt to remedy this ASAP.
