Okay so.. what is the future of this organization?
.
This organization has always been modeled around dedicated servers.

From call of duty 4, call of duty was one of the main game catalogues which we modeled the organization around.

It has been a solid 10 years since call of duty has been able to fit the model of this organization.

After multiple battlefield releases since Battlefield 4, we can safely say that battlefield has also failed to meet the model of this organization.

And counter strike: once was a side quest for this group, but is a mainstay now, has also clearly completely abandoned the dedicated server model, with the last server which fit this service being 10 years ago or more..

Therefore, what is the plan for this group moving forward? It has had a lot of popularity, but fads phase out quickly on the internet.

Esports have gotten quite popular, we are well organized and could get a major team together. We have always had some of the best talent, but unfortunately we are going to lose the talent if we don't get a plan quickly.

Also my mother has gone into retirement, I am planning on becoming an automotive engineer. I presently need to find a roommate, a friend or a family who can let me live with them temporarily. I have some income, but obviously not enough to be able to afford a mortgage, with no wife.

S StillV2 I can't speak for the grand plans of the future, but I do feel the need to correct some things here...

- eGO was actually founded around DoD:S, CSS, and TF2. CoD came a bit later.

- We only JUST kicked our DoD server to the can after 12+ years (the game is fairly dead). We have one CSS server that has sat in the top 10 for almost 10 years now and enjoys massive popularity.

- Our CS:GO servers enjoy popularity based around game modes that are not stock

- Jailbreak and TTT I believe are well ranked and very busy servers still. I don't see either of them going away any time in the near future.

- We have a GTA 5 (FiveM) server that has proved popular since we started it.

The only servers really struggling at this point would be TF2, if any. TF2 has moved away from dedicated servers and we didn't bring in any unique game modes due to the inability to really drive and support them, as well as lack of support from our own members to want to drive the servers.

Minecraft seems to be popular in spurts based on new game modes we bring in (MC leadership seem to refresh the server every so often and keep it fun for people as they ask for new modes).

- We have tried eSports a million times now and it never works out. Commitments and no pay seem to leave it in the dust quickly. We did have a pretty good TF2 comp team for a bit but, people come and go. Any other comp team has never worked out for long with us and I think we've tried it with a ton of games now. If we had a good dedicated team, I'm sure we'd try to support it.

These days members are still playing GTA 5 and CS:GO, a LOT. But we've had people playing Destiny 2, World of Warcraft, and lots of other games. It's been slowly working on finding ways to branch out and adopt different games, continue bringing in members, etc.

It's a process that isn't easy and we're still trying to figure out how things can go. There are not a lot of large gaming communities anymore like ours.

We had over 1000 people join as members last year. Obviously not everyone is active but I would say eGO is still doing very well as a large community when most are dying out.

Nice summary Simon. I look at eGO as a large group of friends that like to game, sorta like a gaming social media. We provide servers when possible, but we all play whatever we're into and come here to talk about it.

#4 for jb, ttt is top 20?

So the goal of=(eGO)= remains to play on dedicated servers?

When there have been:

7 call of duty games released without dedicated servers

Don't consider a new counter-strike game to be fitting the old model because the systems are modeled around the new matchmaking system so it's been obvious for an extremely long time that this clan meeting counter-strike eligibility is a 2-decade throwback to the distant past

Battlefield has obviously abandoned it, have not used the dedicated server system since battlefield 4 which is not a current game and battlefield is known to have a weak userbase with vagrant personal problems , & they have been known to abandon the game

There are 0 people on the Minecraft server

And I'm surprised the best I could get was wow there are still people on the servers? The games have been retreating from the dedicated server model since 2008 or so...

As far as the esports first why would it not pay? It's a multi-billion dollar industry?

S StillV2 I don't think you read my post well... eGO has been trying for some time to work with games that don't support dedicated servers. Most of our dedicated servers still up with a few exceptions are doing well - we've cut down hard on the ones that were not.

We host game modes that are not ones you can do in matchmaking and are successful with it.

There are 0 people on the Minecraft server

As I said... popular in spurts.

It can - if you start up a team, continue to win competitions and higher end tournaments and do well. We've tried competitive in eGO for ages now and no one wants to continue it every time for varieties of reasons, or we don't do well and the team dies off after a season. eSports has money - if you can get to the right level of gameplay.

Perhaps re-read my post a bit more:

Lots of people are hanging out here in TS, playing tons of other games every night and having a go. One of our event teams has been hosting cheap or free games that are bringing people together too. We're always looking at new options and trying when we can see it fitting us well.

There is a community meeting scheduled for February I believe. If you are interested in finding out what's going, then that should help!

You could always set up your PC with it recording in the meeting room and listen back, clipping out the white noise. That's what I'll be doing. They also usually post a recording after the fact
