So basically this came under discussion the other day, I can't say it's 100% my idea, also Marco's. However he's too lazy to actually make the suggestion, so here I am :P

What we'd like to see as the endgoal here is for vehicle damage to be matched to the ruleset expectation for realistic driving in regards to getting into accidents. I've no idea how possible this is, but it would honestly resolve a LOT of unrealistic driving arguments and help newer players on the server navigate this somewhat complicated concept much easier.

So the vehicles would be adjusted to take the amount of damage that would be expected IRL from any type of accident, that means the damage settings should be where if you hit a wall at 100 MPH, your vehicle is crushed. If you take out a sign post, your vehicle should be dented in where it hit, heavily, those things are cemented into the ground. If you take a NON OFFROAD VEHICLE offroad, the terrain should constantly do physical damage to your vehicle.

In addition to this, there should be physical bodily damage based on crashes. If you crash into a wall at 100mph, you should be downed. If you took a terrible turn and rolled your vehicle 5 times, you should at the very least be half half. This is all REGARDLESS of wearing a seat belt. The seat belt protects you from flying out of the vehicle, but it doesn't give you impenetrable armor.

These two changes combined SHOULD IN THEORY help to quell the complications of the unrealistic driving rules and provide a more immersive experience when it comes to vehicular pursuits while also cutting out the need to admin someone who crashed their vehicle 4-5 times in a pursuit and just keeps on going.

Anyone feel free to expand on the idea, tear it apart, hate on it, crush it's hopes and dreams, it's out of my hands now :P

I like it. I can't count the amount of times people try to admin this, when I've seen them do it themselves. Remove armor above level 1, for cops AND civs, and the amount of speeding out of accidents will go away. Yes, I've seen PD do it as well, blowing through red lights, T-boning and flying off

There is a fine line on this. Have we tried it? Yes. Majority complained that they got tapped by an AI and it destroyed their car. I didnt hit anything, it destroyed my car. It was great, however, to most annoying. There wasn't a good way of adjusting, it was just one extreme to the other. Hence why rules are down instead of mechanics.

I had thought I remembered hearing something about this, but I wasn't sure. SO now we know. What about the physical body damage however? Could still benefit pursuits. I know you can take SOME damage when you get into an accident now, but it's minimal at best in a severe accident, can we increase that?

Vehicle damage, that is to say how a vehicle crumples and distorts on impact of a collision can be modified within the handling file, however it doesn't always work well. Hence why something like this happens. Now it could be possible, but incredibly annoying to alter the handling files and make collisons more severe however, it may also cause tiny "fender bender" to look like a mach 5- 0 mph into a wall collision.

i remember when you would have crazy "realistic" damage on cars, fact is, you would walk into the vehicle and it would dent MAJORLY, so idk if it would work the way you would want it to.

So, I've been on servers & experimented with this myself on my own but the sad thing is it's impossible & it's out of my hands. What happens is that you walk into somebody's car or crash into someone going 2 mph and your car is wrecked. there's no way to vary it without making a script that would be a resource hog. Sadly FiveM limits this because of the Russian spaghetti code. also what happens is (due to desync) passengers will just die for no reason etc.
