Battlefield V This is the End of Battlefield 5?

This is the end of Battlefield 5. Today, DICE officially revealed that the last update for the game would arrive in June with some new content, but that after that, Battlefield 5 is over and this is the end of support for the game.

This is incredibly surprising, I have no idea why DICE would end support for their newest game in the flagship franchise so quickly.

In my opinion this is no surprise at all. It's would have been 2 years since BFV released in November and the final content update in June will probably lead to the content being "fresh" up to November. The whole "Old War Style" had so many unique and historical opportunities for gameplay but DICE did not take advantage of those opportunities.

The "Old War" no longer fits the Battlefield franchise. Back when Battlefield 1 came out and the massive time jump between BF4 and BF1 was jarring. It was a terrible move for the franchise. I personally fell out of love with Battlefield at that point. I did not like BF1 and I absolutely despise BF5, not just for the gameplay, but for the terrible optimisation.

I would love to see the franchise return to a modern setting, larger sandbox and unique setting and story.

Of course, I am just one player, but there is only so much you can do for a franchise when you limit yourself to the "old wars".

I'm with LBr, since BF4 the franchise has been going downhill, hopefully they will turn it around and come back to the Battlefield that we all love with the next offering.

Interesting although not surprising. BF5 was a very negative experience for me that completely shattered my love for BF as a series. BF1 wasn't anything special for me either and, as others have said, I do feel the series has gone in the wrong direction.

I really hope Dice can turn things around with a new game, hopefully this time going to a modern setting and allowing community servers!

We can only hope! That this is an attempt to bury its dead and come back strong with BF6.

As for me I skipped BF1 and may skip BF6 if it don't have an Anti cheat and BF4 type RSP at launch.

Oddly enough, I was looking at bf4 servers last week and they are still super active. I was tempted to re download the game and hop in and play like we use too. I know edge does not have any servers so I went and found a few servers which look promising. If y'all want to know which servers I'll be playing on let me know.

Same here, I haven't been active since BF4 tries to get into these last 2, but just couldn't will myself. Hopefully in BF6 we could come back full force.

this is weird. bad company 2 has no updates for years and its not dead. the same with bf3 and so on. why should bf5 die? just because youtubers jumped on the same bandwagon to get views?
