I don't know why so many people hate it. Its working just fine for me right now. I have Ultimate and after installing SP1, it got even more stable. All the programs I used on XP, work with Vista. And people complaining about the security alerts when you do anything, thats easily fixed. All my hardware works as well.

And yah, Linux can play basicley all games windows can.

Well vista is good but lags on me here and thier. But i got a new computer so... It's cool
haha well i do not own it, but i have used it MULTIPLE MULTIPLE times, almost to the point where i should own it. pretty sure im going to buy it soon becuase i found out of this awesome deal that i can get on vista ultimate, and i would tell you but you would be jealous. lol onto the main point. for the multiple times i have used vista i have not had any problems, and now with it runnin SP1 its even smoother. Yes there is the security alerts but like Wally said, those can easily be fixed.

i have like windows vista home basic or aomething and it wont play my games so well so i use my brother's xp. i should probably upgrade it to ultamite.. then maybe just maybe it will work way better for games.
also what is dx10 and sp1?

dx10: Its direct X 10... alot better than direct x 9 (better effects, shading, and such) so an overall better experience
sp1: service pack 1... fixed alot of bugs and errors and essentially makes vista run alot better
having home basic.... bad idea in the first place... xp is alot better than home basic in the first place, so yeah... just go with ulitmate 32 bit (x84) or 64 bit (x64)
