Since I and many others like to shit post from time to time,

I think eGO forums should add a shit posting section, where we can all just spam stuff and shit post, and then You can make a rule saying "Posts Regarding spam, or immature content is against the rules in all categories except the "shitpost/spam/whatever u guys call it category.".

this is my opinion, Thanks for your time!!!

I think because the forums are so user friendly now, the number of shitposts has risen due to that. Previously it was a much weirder process and a lot slower of a system, let alone navigating the system in order to actually make a post, but now it takes like 3 button clicks and that's it

or the fact that reputation score isn't exactly as straight forward as old forums where its displayed when you post

Can you explain what you mean by this? I don't understand.

Rep was given by the up or down system, if you made a stupid post and got downvoted, your rep also tanked from it. This would limit people to decide on improving their post and making it better instead of posting two sentences. On the new forums, rep isn't that important, it's not viewed readily, you have to click on the users' profile and see their rep score (not like anyone cares about it anymore, but it's not readily available)

Thanks TomSL TomSL , I think you get where I’m coming from. Probably why I don’t game so much anymore online... it’s not very fun for me with the current generation of players.

I hope I didn’t come across as an ass - just frustrated is all I suppose.

I think posts like the one last night the OP of this thread made literally just saying "I need to take a shit" should just be straight deleted. We don't need to go through stuff with a fine tooth comb or anything.

Use of forums depends person to person, but if someone wanted to see what our community is like and saw this, it would be pretty rough looking. Hell, it makes me not want to come to the forums when half the posts are a thread title and the body just says "lol" and the only replies are emojis.

We used to be able to hide lots behind the face that the site had the front page, server listings, etc, before you got to the forums. Now your current first impression is what you see right now.

I hope that tech is working on creating a front page similar to the one we had on VBulletin. Logging onto the website and seeing the CS or MS or TF2 event art would remind me if something was going on and I would connect to the TeamSpeak at the time. Although an active member on the forums now, I would argue that the previous layout was a lot more useful for newer members for finding information that they would want, such as meetings or events.

And looking at the Wayback Machine of the old forums, I think a lot of the tools we had there would be nice to have on XF, like the recent posts on the side, the shoutbox, etc. Made getting people for events easier, server fills easier, all those sorts of things.

Here are a few Comparisions just so I can start a discussion about people's opinion on the landing page thing without just saying "The old forums were better" with nothing to back it up.

I'll be honest, you did, but it's okay, it's a sensitive topic for me too.
Discussion about this is actually underway, and it's a sensitive topic for a lot of people.

If you dislike a post, it removes reputation..

Yes, that is in the works.

i think he was referring to the fact that when you made a post , your rep score was right under your name. to see people’s rep you gotta click their profile to see it or see the leaderboard so there’s more steps to seeing it instead of it just being clearly under someone’s name
edit: plus there’s more than just upvote and downvote reactions too so it’s less up vote down vote reactions overall

But what I mean is that on the old forums, having a lot of rep also made your profile have the little bar and different messages based off of that so it was cool to see something progress.

And ghost said it for me perfectly, it's not on the post itself unless you manually look it up. The leaderboard is cool, but that isn't the same as your own personal progress which personally drove me to create better posts.

At this point, this entire thread has shifted off-topic.

I wouldn't be surprised if the thread is locked Soon™

We've had a great discussion over a greater topic, One I HOPE sheds some light to the right people about some definitely great observations and discussions on the matter.

Yeah, I kind of agree.

So here's the deal:

We're talking about it, and we're introducing some changes and some features that previously Managers didn't have access to, it's still taking us time to settle into the new forum, XF2 is MASSIVE and I cannot understate that, there is so much configuration that it's ridiculous that any other forum software exists.

I'm not qualified to comment on what is and what isn't going to happen, but just know we aren't ignoring the problem, and discussion has been opened and changes have been proposed and are on the table as of right now.

Anything else should stay on topic or it's just going to get deleted, we're watching this thread closely from this point on.
