Hello all,

I have a lot of issues with a recent in character post made by the DOJ, so this forum post has been made to influence change on some ruling that I strongly disagree with. To my knowledge there is no way to "vote" on certain issues regarding law changes, so the DOJ has a monopoly on making new changes to the law book, that change the whole server (in some cases), this being said I believe that the Leadership team has a final say on what enters the law book or what doesn't, however I'm not entirely sure on if this is the case.

So the post... "New Criminal Code: 2C:21-1d
Possession of a Military / Tactical Police Vehicle

Possession of a vehicle that has armored plating, or that has equipped weapons (specifically a firearm) that can cause damage to life, limb and property, or a vehicle deemed by the State of Los Santos to be a Military style vehicle.

$10,000 10 MONTHS MAXIMUM OF 15 TOTAL
"

Okay, so, are you seeing any issues with this post?

"armored plating" "or a vehicle deemed by the State of Los Santos to be a Military style vehicle." having catch all's like this in a law allows the DOJ to deem ANY vehicle as a military style vehicle, vehicles like the hauler custom ( ) they have metal bars on the windows, and a metal engine cover with (something that looks similar to spikes but do no damage) located at the bottom of the metal engine cover, would this vehicle be considered a "military style vehicle"? the vehicle has armored plating so from the DOJ's description it is illegal.

Okay well what about personal protection vehicles (Schafter V12 armored & LWB variant, XLS Armored, Baller LE Armored & LWB Variant, Cognoscenti Armored & 55 Variant, Paragon R Armored, Speedo Custom, Phantom Custom, Docktug, Securicar [gruppe6 truck is not a ppv], Mule Custom, Rumpo custom and a few others) all these vehicles are considered illegal and arrestable, and if you don't arrest them then you are breaking the law and going to jail yourself. every vehicle in this list https://gta.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Armored_Vehicles is illegal according to the DOJ's phasing of "armored plating" and "a vehicle deemed a military style vehicle", (some make complete sense, like the tanks, and vehicles that have guns on it, but the ones I listed don't make any sense.)

in our server we have an almost unrealistic amount of shootings daily, everything criminal is turned up to 11, Let the LEGAL civilians with no felony charges drive the vehicles I listed as Personal protection vehicles, if they are used in a crime, seize them & add a charge, if they are used in a bank robbery add the charge that is listed & seize them, Clarify which vehicles are illegal like the...(armored boxville, menacer, APC, nightshark, Chernobog, ramp car, duke O'death, Terrorbyte, and a few others with BULLET PROOF metal on the windows, they should be considered illegal) but the vehicles I listed as PPV they only have BULLET RESISTANT glass, they should not be seized, they should be exempt from the law for the legal civilians, or maybe even all civilians if the DOJ believed that those vehicles wouldn't be used in crimes.

and what about armored police vehicles which also have armored plating, are they exempt, where is this written?

Now to answer some questions and statements

"No need to own a armored car" legal civilians should not be punished for being concerned for there life in the city that has a "unrealistic amount of shootings daily," these cars don't give a strong advantage over anything, the vehicles I listed as personal protection vehicles have bullet resistant glass, they can take up to 12 shots in each glass panel before shattering and the bullet comes through, ALSO if someone shoots from inside the vehicles I listed, the glass WILL break the second you shoot from the inside, so it doesn't even aid criminals fleeing from cops because cops only shoot when they are shot at, and in most cases that happens from inside a vehicle and if they do that then the armoredness of the vehicle is pointless anyway. the only thing this aids is legal civilians fleeing from criminals.

"making changes to this rule will only benefit criminals!!!" in one way yes it benefits criminals, however like I said above, the second you shoot through the baller armored (and vehicles that are considered in my wording a PPV) from the inside it shatters the glass, if criminals are going to use vehicles to assist them with crimes they will use the bullet proof vehicles, like the Duke O'death (and vehicles like it) because they got the bullet proof metal blocking the windows.

"they're OP" the vehicles I listed as vehicles that should be considered illegal, that have actual metal blocking the windows, like the Kurma and the Duke O'death, Those types of vehicles give you a strong advantage, but vehicles with bullet resisting windows, like the baller LE Armored, that isn't overpowered, that's just a PPV.

"its unrealistic" counter argument, if this was IRL and you were a person who actually lived in Los Santos, and every day there's people getting shot and (instead of being brought to pillbox) they are actually dead, don't you think you as a person would want a little bit more protection? buy a gun, go get some bullet resistant glass installed in your everyday car, what about if you were robbed at gun point, the same thing applies. but I feel like I personally would go a bit further (considering moving state etc) at the end of the day this is a video game that imitates realism is some aspects, but disregards it in others (not dying when you are shot in the head etc) which is completely fine but I find it insane that someone could say its unrealistic for my character to be a little worried about death. I also find it crazy that we are not allowing the people of importance or people who can afford it, to use armored bullet resistant vehicles, if I were a judge doing these huge domestic terrorism cases, Id be driven around in an armored vehicle like I'm the president of the US, death is finite let me RP like this is the case.

I'm sure some of you will bring up concerns, but the point of the post is this. Clarify the law, allow Law abiding citizens to use the armored vehicles that only have bullet resistant glass & armored plating on the doors, class the vehicles with bullet resistant glass and armored plating on the doors as a Personal Protection Vehicle, and maybe even allow people to register through the DOJ, PD or some kind've DMV type thing, for people to use them LEGALLY, (no one should consider the way you get this vehicle, nor should anyone know outside the people who are running it)

Thanks for reading
Change this please.

I fully agree this is the route that should be taken. Blanket ban with the option of registering to get it legally.

What a ridiculous law and horribly written. How did that even get put into place?

What makes it ridiculous? How could it be written better?

First of all, remove this garbage "vehicle deemed by the State of Los Santos to be a Military style vehicle." You would never find this is in a legitimate IRL law. You should be listing specific vehicles that are illegal. Not just blanket "armored vehicles."

Pretty sure the answer to this question is in Duck's post, just saying.

I just dont think armoured cars should be illegal, cars with guns? yes! Military vehicles? Yes illegal. An SUV with bulletproof windows and doors? Why is this illegal? They are expensive custom made cars.... why should they be illegal

I agree with everything said in this post

I agree as well.

You have to remember that these cars are technically vapid cars as well and have stock handling files unless they were modified making them extremely underpowered by comparison to imported vehicles 99% of the city uses.

Aren't black market cars...purchased on the black market...illegally...supposed to be illegal? I am sure that the law can use better definition to account for some of the vapid sold cars, but why are we saying black market cars should be accepted as street legal cars. Wat?

PS: Did anyone think to ask a Judge about this?

I appreciate the constructive criticism in this post. A few of you need to take a step back and reevaluate how you communicate things, calling something "garbage" or "ridiculous" is definitely not how you do it.

I have requested information from the State on which vehicles should and should not be legal, and we will implement that shortly.

Black market vehicles will ALWAYS be illegal. Just as Legend stated, they're on the black market because they would be illegal in the first place.

Additionally, laws will never be voted upon. The bias on the server would be too great and nothing would ever get passed. 90%+ of the population on the server are gun toting criminals. Very few "normal" civilians. So voting would be virtually useless.

Legend Legend Aaron Aaron the vehicles aren't bought from the "black market", they are bought from a person, yea sure you could call it a black market but regardless the DOJ wouldn't know that in character, so that point is moot. IC the DOJ should see them(the owners) as people who are very important or paranoid would use them.

Note; they can be bought with clean money from an actual human

Duck. They’re intended to be illegal cars. Bro.

Technically they are purchased through an underground form of black market trade, but I still agree with Duck that the basic armored cars should be legal. The really dont give any criminal benefit while in police chases ad all in all just offer a more durable type of glass. (this only goes for vehicles like the Cognoscenti 55 Armored, Schafter Armored, Baller LE Armored, etc)

If someone can give me an actual reason of why they think the armored cars like the ones I listed above should be illegal id like to debate.
