Hello all,
Today I will be talking about conducting fair RP in all aspects of RP (Cop, Civ, Crim).
The way I RP certain things may be or is different from most players on the server, I am someone who tries to take the (me deciding what happens) out of the equation. I do this by using aspects from the game "Dungeons & Dragons" where I focus on rolling for things with a dice (D6, D8, D20) I do this because in my opinion that is fair to all involved, I didn't decide what happens, nor did the other person who may or may not be involved, let me give a few examples.
if you have time you could write up a (very long notepad) that shows all fails and successes on removing said evidence, (example "Upon viewing the door handle you can see a very faint fingerprint, if you have the gear available to attempt to remove the print please roll a d20 /roll 1 20), the notepad would have to have a part where you cannot see what the the success chances are and fail chances without scrolling down, so id say you would just add some kind of spoiler bar where they would scroll down and see what would happened if they rolled a 1, then a 5 or higher, then a 10 or higher, then a 15 or higher. a 20 should be always a success. a 1 should always be a fail.
if someone askes in ooc for information ask them to DM you on discord, after that you can work from there, ask them where they are looking and you will tell them what is there, however if it comes to things that can be destroyed upon picking them up, removing it, lifting it etc, then they should be required to roll for it (in front of yourself or someone else just in case) so if they say to you in dm's, "looks at the car dodge charger" you say "you see a bullet impact in the drivers side door" assuming the person who you are talking to has the right equipment that they grabbed from an evidence processing vehicle or had it in there vehicle they would say something along the lines of "attempts to remove bullet (/roll 1 20)" they must roll knowing what they need to get before the roll is completed, so before they roll you say, "you will need x roll to remove the bullet without destroying it, the number is 13 or higher" so then its as fair as it can be.
this mentality shouldn't applied to everything, you shouldn't say, roll to collect this blood DNA or shell-casings. because IRL if you collecting DNA (Blood specifically) or shell-casings off the ground you won't be able to just break it upon picking it up, removing a bullet from a vehicle, or wall, absolutely. And if you do use this mentality to have more fair RP in the server make sure to not make things unrealistically unfair (making all your rolls have to be a 20 or you destroy it, a 20 roll requirement should be never used unless you strongly believe that if this happened irl it would be near impossible to remove the bullet with some form of rifling on it.
something else I like to use rolls for is vehicle accidents, now this may be a little unrealistic but I feel like then it adds (some level) of fairness to getting in a crash in a pursuit for all parties, now this has to be used sparsely and you need to be very aware of what you could drive out of irl and what you can't, so if you fly off a mountain in your car and land on all your wheels, your car is dead (regardless if it still drives or not in game), and your also most likely dead. If you run into a wall doing 150 Mph or more, same thing. if you crash under a speed of lets say 100mph, then you can start to roll for vehicle damage and see how bad your vehicle is damaged and if it will run again. I think all rolls on this should be over 15 unless it was a minor crash that wouldn't stop your engine irl or break anything around the wheels for those I wouldn't roll, but if you hit a pole or pillar at 80 mph /roll 1 20 say what number you want it to be over before getting the result, so I crash, I say somewhere if not in game I need a 14 plus roll to start the engine again, then you roll.
now with this in mind you need to take what I said very seriously regarding not using rolls to get out of accidents you would not, there is a specific rule on breaking realism, you can read it below.

Today I will be talking about conducting fair RP in all aspects of RP (Cop, Civ, Crim).
The way I RP certain things may be or is different from most players on the server, I am someone who tries to take the (me deciding what happens) out of the equation. I do this by using aspects from the game "Dungeons & Dragons" where I focus on rolling for things with a dice (D6, D8, D20) I do this because in my opinion that is fair to all involved, I didn't decide what happens, nor did the other person who may or may not be involved, let me give a few examples.
abandoned vehicle found with a bullet in the side of the door panel, attempts to remove bullet with a tool(anything) /roll 1 20
(for a successful removal of the bullet ill do anywhere above 10+ roll depending on how bad I think the bullet would be broken up due to circumstances, for example if a bullet hit a tire its possible that the bullet would be completely destroyed, so I would make it a requirement of 18+ roll to successfully remove the bullet.)
if you are an viewer of my stream you may have seen me do the roll for damage first I will roll a d6 to find out which limb I was hit in, then I would roll a d20 for damage, anything over 10 is serious unless it hits number 3 which is the chest, it's different because I'm wearing body armor, I then would require the roll to go over 15 for it to pen my armor, (I've changed this mentality slightly to where I roll for every time I think I was hit, the same d20 process applies.)
I feel like this is one of the fairest ways to do it. this mentality could apply to all aspects of RP, instead of wearing gloves allow fate to decide if they take the print of completely, partially or ruin the pick up of the print I will give a few examples on the right way to do it.if you have time you could write up a (very long notepad) that shows all fails and successes on removing said evidence, (example "Upon viewing the door handle you can see a very faint fingerprint, if you have the gear available to attempt to remove the print please roll a d20 /roll 1 20), the notepad would have to have a part where you cannot see what the the success chances are and fail chances without scrolling down, so id say you would just add some kind of spoiler bar where they would scroll down and see what would happened if they rolled a 1, then a 5 or higher, then a 10 or higher, then a 15 or higher. a 20 should be always a success. a 1 should always be a fail.

Vehicle Scenarios
- Use of jumps / ramps.
- Taking sedans or small vehicles up inclines. Only the use of SUVs/Trucks/Offroad equipped vehicles should operate in hills or mountainous terrain.
- City vehicle speeds should not max-out. Vehicle speeds should remain under 80 within city limits.
- Ramming your vehicle into other players or vehicles with no intent of roleplay.
- Use of helicopters or planes at low altitudes in the city."
