I have seen references to some of you guys playing G Mod... what is it?

It is a coding game basicaly, physics, and all of this other stuff (G-Mod 10 newest version) you can make almost anything, you can make characters pose, to me it looks really fun.

Ill point out that garrys mod 10 is multiplayer and singleplayer, and garry mod 9 is only single player.

How do I get it for free? I would like to try it out. I downloaded 9 from Gamespot and it wouldn't work. I have The Orange Box so I have source games.
Open up steam, go to store, search for garrys mod, and then click garrys mod 9, click download (make sure you have hl2 installed, or it wont let you download)

Slightly more in depth explanation:
Gary's Mod is a sandbox construction/physics game that allows you to take a large number (all?) of the props from source games and use them to build things. You can do single or multi-player (as mentioned above). Props range from trains to boxes to small cans to characters bodies. The main tool you use is the gravity gun from Half Life, with a large variety of other tools thrown in.
I've seen all kinds of fun things built, including amusement parks, hover-carts, and forts. Also, many of the sigs you see on this site are made through posing certain characters in G-Mod, taking a screenshot, and using an editing software to throw a few overlays on it.
I would suggest buying it if you love to mess around in open environments or build things. It's only $10, and if that doesn't appeal, download 9 and mess around for free!
