ayo texas ppl

Texas gets 2 inches of snow and everything falls apart, like did they build their buildings out of cardboard?
lol - We used to have a Ton of Members in Texas.

I think one of the few Get Together / LAN parties was in TX!

What you have to understand is infrastructure. The power lines in the south are above ground. If they had salt in piles like up north it would be a solid block or melted by the time you needed it 7 yrs later. Also, TEJAS is BIG! and they are not connected to other power grids like most electrical utilities in the US. And it would cost billions for them to connect. Easier to hoard milk and bread and wait it out.

Stay safe!

Texas kinda shit the bed but that’s cause our entire state which is massive was struck with the same snow storm so literally the entire state was frozen. I’ve seen multiple houses here where everything inside is freezing because the lack of power and the houses just not being built to keep heat in, but to actually let it out cause how hot our summers are. I went without power at my house for nearly 30 hours straight cause of our failed electrical grid.

Oh yeah, and in the south, you won't asphyxiate in your own home as it's too airtight.

Just wondering how y'all over in Texas are doing at the moment with the power situation. Best wishes!
it freaking sucks. me and my family have just got our power back. it seems ercot is finally stopped with the rolling blackouts bs.

Better spend millions on building a wall

I.. was... freaking... cold!!!

I never lost power, but many of my friends did.

One sent me a pic of a digital thermometer.. it was 28F INSIDE his house!!!

The big thing, now most people are dealing with busted pipes.

The problem, is it here in deep south texas (I'm right on the coast), it just does not get "cold" often.

It will go years without even having a freeze. YEARS. And when it does freeze, it's like just below freezing for a few hours during the middle of the night, then warms back up once the sun rises.

This time? It got down to like 12 degrees.. and STAYED below freezing for over 2 days.

Our building just are not built for this.

I predict some changes in the way Texas handles Power and Infrastructure.... Sadly it will be too little too late. But you can only do so much.

After a week long winter storm in the 80's Alabama lost power for about a week due to downed power lines. As stated above, power lines in the south are mostly above ground, as it's cheaper. Well our City Mayor suggested we buy a snowmobile so we could assist elderly people and such in case of a similar event in the future.

Well IF we had bought the snowmobile it would still be sitting in storage rotting away, never used.

Luckily this got debated out. So lets keep up the debate, and get rid of the cancel!
