It is of my opinion, and many others that I have spoken with, that the police cars are overtuned and will end up causing crappy roleplay. My experience with this topic is that I have a police character and a civ character, so I have driven the pd Charger and the pd Explorer.

When this topic comes up, all the pd character mains talk about is how all the crims can steal cars that are faster than them in top speed that causes them to just get on the highway and run away. While this is true, there is a reason for that. The police vehicles (Charger and Explorer) turn and brake on a dime. You can hit a turn going 90 mph without letting off the gas and the car will not slide one bit. There is not one default GTA of GTAO car that can do that. Now, because of this issue, it is almost impossible to lose a police car while going around the city making turns (which is what makes a chase fun). When I try to lose the police by turning in the city, I see that they catch up to me in every turn. So as a criminal, the only thing I can do to escape is to steal whatever fast car I can, and run on the highway. This is low effort roleplay and does not bring fun for the police or cops. I think there would be much more fun chases if the police cars were tuned down to match a civilian car like the bullet or the comet. I also think it would be good to limit what cars spawn (though I do not know if that is possible, just putting it out there) because it makes it unfair to police when people can steal Jesters and other end game super cars.

If anyone would like to speak more about it then please reach out to me in discord, and I would be MORE than happy to hop into the test server with someone and prove my point, because I am very confident in my opinion.

I would like to close my suggestion by saying thank you to all the leadership and devs who have put time into the server. This is not in any way meant to bash or diss the server or those who have created it, it is just a suggestion that I and many people I know share and one that we think would make the server a better rp server.

I don’t know where you got this from. I only drive the charger and it cannot brake for shit. Because of this it is absolutely hot garbage at going around corners and you have to slow down to almost 40-50mph to prevent not being able to turn enough. On top of this you recommend nerfing them but their top speed is less than almost every sports car you can find on the street so you can guarantee a win in any pursuit by just going in a straight line on the highway. Now who’s overpowered?

This argument has been made by both sides for as long as I can remember. It will go on forever. Everyone blames the other sides cars constantly. Just look back in the GTA forum and I bet you will find something very similar to this

All I'm going to say is Jimothy Buckerton Jimothy Buckerton @MoltenLiquid and myself already demonstrated and proved the issue with the PD Charger to majority of LE around 5 weeks ago, where we were told it would be fixed.

We shouldn't need another discussion about this but sadly we do....

If you want, take the PD Charger for a drive and then take the GTA Buffalo for a drive, the Buffalo is based off a newer generation Dodge Charger and costs 2x the price of the PD Charger, but yet drives much, much worse.

I myself have driven the PD Charger and have been able to make turns at 90mph, no other car in game that costs 15k can do that.

Based off of your buffalo argument, GTA came out in 2013 and the buffalo was in the game, meaning they are based off a similar model year. Our chargers are police pursuit package chargers from dodge which have better suspension and drivetrains than normal chargers. And well they have a ripped out interior with little to no nice to haves so they’re very competitively priced compared to similarly spec’d RT chargers ;)

Don’t forget that police also have to prioritize spending in other departments than just vehicles so these chargers are all we have for the foreseeable future when civs will be upgrading to faster vehicles. Then this argument will be flipped right back around when pursuits are completely crim sided for personal vehicles too.

Additionally this is just for owned vehicles. Crims can also just steal vehicles. They’re under no restrictions to keep to the current vehicle metas everyone else is in. Surely you don’t expect chargers be nerfed to match the handling and performance of a $15k car from pdm while they can go out and steal a bullet or a massacro that will absolutely dust any police car in the city and easily on the highway and costs them nothing.

Vehicle handling isn’t the only aspect of pursuits as well. If you’re the better driver than you could easily shake someone in a pursuit. There are also creative aspects like having someone else block the road or go somewhere a police car couldn’t follow.

Crims have the upperhand in almost every aspect in a pursuit. You’ve found one where the police currently have the advantage and now it needs to be destroyed 😢

1. I never mentioned anything about nerfing the top speed of the police car so not sure why you think I did.
2. We could hop in the server right now and I will not lose you in a chase in any car you want to choose.
3. Legend and I just did what I suggested above and he agreed that pd cars need to be able to slide more while turning and the brakes are too strong.
4. What upperhands for crims are you talking about when it comes to police chases? Please do not just say "they have the upperhand" without providing even one example.

Neither did I. I believe you misread when I said their top speed sucks.

Top speed, ability to control where the pursuit goes to have planned interventions like blockages etc, being able to steal faster cars. Those were all in my reply.

On the contrary would you like to do the reverse. You take a charger and I take a civ car?

Yes, I must have misunderstood when you said, "On top of this you recommend nerfing them but their top speed is less than almost every sports car you can find on the street" because this is implying I mentioned nerfing the top speed. I recommended nerfing them, but never mentioned their top speed.

Two of those upperhands you metioned are the exact same thing (i.e. top speed and ability to steal faster cars), so then the only other upperhand you mentioned is planning blockages or vehicle swaps. Police still have upperhands. The reason people steal fast cars and run on the highway is because they are either lazy roleplayers or understand that you cannot lose a police car in the city with turns.

Yes I would be happy to take the charger and you can take a comet or other fast car that is able to be stolen, and as long as you do not go on the highway and just use the top speed then you will not lose me.

But like I said, I have already done the police chases multiple times with devs and admins, including Legend about 20 minutes ago.

1. Starting with the buffalo argument. The buffalo I'm referring to, the Buffalo S which is sold for 30k and PDM and Sunrise, is based off the 2012-2014 Dodge Charger SRT-8, the 2008 Dodge Charger and that one are two different generations of Dodge Charger. 2006-2010 Charger is gen 6, 2011-now is gen 7. Adding to that, the horsepower difference in the 2008 PD V8 version Charger and a 2012 SRT-8 Charger is around 150hp. While yes a Charger with the police package has upgraded brakes, suspension and a beefed up transmission, any SRT-8 would still dominate it.

I know this is all IRL info and doesn't pertain to in game, but the point I am trying to make is that the BuffaloS (Based off a 2012-2014 Charger SRT-8) should completely dominate the 2008 PD Charger. It doesn't make sense that a car double the price is less than half as good.

2. While yes, I can see people complaining when the 2008 PD Charger is forced to go up against other faster cars that people can buy, but that's part of the progression in the server, that is why the PD is able to upgrade, its the responsibility of the Chief, Sheriff, etc to spend money wisely and use it where needed, maybe sell the PD heli and re-buy it when needed, idk. Regardless, people shouldn't the car to be buffed cause the PD cant afford something better, same goes for civs, people should ask for a cheap car to be faster, handle better, etc because they cant afford anything better.

3. Yes, civs/crims can steal cars and a lot of those cars will beat the charger in a straight line, but from my understanding we as a community are trying to step away from poor chases like that. A chase like that demonstrates lazy and low effort RP from the crim or whoever may be fleeing from the PD. Also, as stated above, as the server and the PD progress the PD cars will get faster and maybe even have a speed unit that is able to keep up.

4. While yes, being a better driver is always going to help you in any sort of chase, two similar skill drivers in two completely different cars will have much different advantages/disadvantages.
From my understanding, having a friend or someone block the road for a crim is interjecting/re-interjecting yourself in a RP scene which is, or at least wasn't allowed before. I would say this is kind of a iffy subject.

5. I wont touch on the upper hand thing as this is simply opinionated and will be different for everyone. Its a debate that has been going on for years and years.

Jimothy Buckerton Jimothy Buckerton I'm glad you decided to reach out and voice your concerns. We appreciate it greatly.

This is something that I know you talked to D3FaulT about. Would you say this issue still exists?
