Hey,

So I've been thinking about the ability to lock your forum account so that no one can access it, and not be able to hop on edge gamers official servers. This would be good for people that are taking a break or other stuff which would include not having access to internet or just gaming.

This would protect the person who locked their account so if there account were to get hacked or they don't want anyone whos trusted with their passwords to log in on either edgegamers or game servers.

Though I think this is probably gonna be hard to do this is just an idea. What do you guy's think?

If two-factor authentication is enabled, someone logging in to "hack" it would need their codes. So it's effectively locked as is.

They shouldn't give out the password in the first place to anyone. Then you end up with the "my brother went on the servers and said the n-word!" excuse people love to dish up on contests ;)

Just sorta seems like overkill for things that are standard practice. Even in terms of longer term projects over the seemingly dozens of outstanding issues and ideas, I'd feel this isn't a great use of tech time.

log out and use a password

The closest thing to this would be banning your MAUL account and your forum profile until you come back, which we probably won't be doing. Like Simon said;

It's entirely unnecessary. You SHOULD already be using a strong password, and if you are admin, 2FA. Security is a two way street, and you can't expect eGO to take the burden of account security away from you. You are the lock.

Also, who's responsible for activating or removing these locks? Leadership? Tech? I think not. If it's toggle able by the user, what's the point? A hacker could just as easily remove this lock if so, without an additional subsystem.

Sorry, -1 from me, and I'm the one always talking about security. It just doesn't make sense in this context.

I am going to -1 one this. Have a strong enough password and have good judgment not to play when you want to take a break. If not, could ask a LE member to ban you until the break is over.
