It is called modular cabling.

If you need that much RAM, and 2 4870X2's, you definitely should get a Core 2 Extreme chip.
Very expensive, but seeing how much you are spending on ram...

so I'm assuming you're getting/have or can "obtain" a 64 bit version of windows to run the 8gb of ram? most you can get out of 32bit Vista is 4gb with SP1. Looks like a nice system, the 4870s in crossfire at their price are on par with some of the nice nvidia cards. For your hard drives, I would go with seagate (I had trouble installing Vista 32bit on my WD SATA HDD a while back) and get 32mb cache drives, makes data transfers a bit faster. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148288

I already have Vista Ultimate 32bit and 64bit. (I actually bought it ) and as of now I have Vista 32bit and my main drive is a 160GB WD drive and I haven't had any problems with it. My current storage drive I have now is from on old system and its an IDE 320GB WD and I've had that for over a year now and never had any problems with it. But ya, 32mbs of cache would be nice. I'll take a look at them.

I second the call for a Seagate. Grab a 1 TB one to last you a long time. They are around 200 and if you get two 500 GB it comes about the same.

I was thinking about getting a 1TB drive. But the one problem Id have with something like that is that bigger drives are more likely fail. If that drives fails and I have all my stuff on it, I loose everything! That's why I like the idea of 2 500s. I'm still not sure though.

LOL. I love it. I really recommend a good a e8400 or e8500 with good OCing potential, but thats just me.

I still think I'm going with a quad-core. I've always wanted a quad-core. I think that a quad-core would be nice for being prepared for the future when more and more software and games will utilize a quad-core more and more.
P.S. Mr.Q you can sure give me $2,000 and ill make you it and it won't have an actual paper pricetag on it

if you seriously going to go Crossfire with the 4870's change your motherboard, I warn you now.

P45 only supports Dual 8x slots, not true 16x 2.0, it will bottleneck... it bottlenecks the 4850's, don't deprive such nice video cards like that!

X48 chipset fully supports Dual 16x 2.0, that's why I got the x48 cause I have the same video card plan you do.
