1. First thing is that in the Member Relations meeting , rules being noticed better by new players and kind of just players in general was brought up a couple times. The old plug-in forced a player to actually open a url to our MOTD. Obviously now that's a security issue, you should not be able to force another person to open a link on their computer, and was removed a few years ago. I brought up a possibility for an command "!frules <player>"that would bring up a menu that has the rules printed to it. The player isn't brought to an external site. The player is kept in game and has to scroll through the rules or rule that the admin selected them to view. The rules are split into sections and those sections can be split into individual rules. This can be down for new player's to get an understanding of our rules better when they connect to the server or before they have a clear understanding of the rule book. A lot of the time, new players will kind of just ignore reading through the rule book or even glancing at it. There's rules where you have to read through a lot of stuff to get to before actually even seeing it. so just popping up an individual rule that a new player is possibly not aware of can be handy. Some experienced player's even have trouble with the rulebook, so if there's a confusion or they have a question on what the rule actually states an admin can just pop up the menu for the player to read through. Just adds some extra attention for the players to have a better look at the rulebook or certain rules. Also helps with admin discretion when it comes to players continuously breaking the rules. An admin can have a firm assurance that a player has viewed that rule, and if they break it again they know that the player is more likely than not choosing to intentionally break that rule. A lot of great stuff was brought up in the Member Relations pertaining around these issues, and I think this could possibly help solve some of those problems.
2. A global command that any player can use to client-side mute everybody except the ct's. Right now the only alternative to this is just manually muting every single person. Sometimes you just want to chillax, play some JB, and just follow some wardens orders without hearing a bunch of people talk at once. Not much to explain here just.
3. A global command that any player can use to client-side mute ambient sounds. This plugin can be found on alliedmodders and can better explain it than I can. I can't find the link to it right now but if I find it I'll make sure to put it on this thread. Basically mutes things like footsteps, knifing sounds, disco music, or just any other sounds the server may play for the user. I think the plug-in possibly might only mute teammate footsteps and knifing sounds if I'm not wrong (You obviously kind of want to hear if an enemy is running at you or knifing you so that's why enemy ambient sounds would still be available to hear.). There's not really any other alternatives for a player to not hear these sounds. I think there's a console command that mutes some stuff but is kind of a hassle to do and doesn't cover as much stuff this plugin would have. When there's 30+ T's in a stack all jumping around knifing each other it can be hard to hear other stuff that's going on such as Warden commands or any other jailbreak related talk.
Those are just a couple quality of life suggestions to make the servers even more enjoyable than they already are. Thanks for reading, and let me know what you think.
