A question TO YOU regarding Hurricanes

Hey all,
its that time again where I make a huge post regarding a topic I have been talking about on stream and/or considering to myself for a bit.

I label this post as a question for one simple reason, is what I am about to talk about (and suggest) too real, offensive or insensitive. I ask you to respond to this question after reading the rest of my post with your answer.

To be clear, this post is about suggesting/adding a one weekend Hurricane event. (with all of your approval along side Leadership) This would be an event that will take place from Friday to Sunday once every blue moon. (not often.) I've wanted to have a Hurricane Event for some time now, specifically ever since I seen Officer401's YT video about "How the Police Coordinate Hurricane Operations" I've wanted to be on the side of law enforcement patrolling the streets during a hurricane while crime and looting run rampant and conditions are extreme.

Now past the obvious black outs and shitty weather, what am I suggesting happens during a hurricane?
1. Banks have 25% more money
2. drugs sell for 25% more money
3. Bank Alarms don't work. (meaning police should/would have to post up at banks or patrol around them)
4. Money laundering (idk how it works but it should give you more)
5. Paychecks for SADPS are increased by 25 or 50 or 75% (call it a bonus for working in dangerous conditions) - with support from the federal gov or government
6. unit maximums FOR POLICE are removed for the event - I suggest this due to balance of the amount of money criminals could get in the 3 day event.
7. Cop requirements for illegal stuff is increased once again, for balance. (my suggested number of police would be 4-5 units total.)

I think, if permitted by you, this could be an event that we might all enjoy, and make some more money as well as have some fun/different RP. (+Flooding?) its all up in the air but at the end of the day, It will get all of us in the server for a weekend and change up the RP for everyone. Maybe there's an argument for increasing unemployed paychecks by a bit to make everyone a bit more money.

Now on to the why; IRL I have personally been in a few pretty bad hurricanes where I am from, Hurricane Igor basically completely cut off my town (of 700 people btw) from any type of grocery store (if you wanna see pictures search Hurricane Igor Newfoundland) in result of the town(village) being cut off from any type of real food supply the military came in on boats to deliverer food. But during this time I wasn't scared, in fact I was extremely comfy and happy as nothing much happened in newfoundland it gave me something to do (our house was flooded, my room included) and a lot of people helped out. Which is why I am presenting you this question in the first place, I have never lost anyone or any pets to a hurricane so I don't really think I could suggest this in good faith without getting you the people to reply to it. Would it be insensitive to do something like this in the game. is it not the right vibe? This is why I am writing this post.

Thanks for reading.

Also if everyone's generally fine with it, can we talk more about the suggestions I made (1 - 7 suggestions.)

Insensitive? No. It's a game and a hurricane COULD be fun. But I think that alarms not going off would be OP. Basically we never have enough cops as is, spreading them that thin would basically mean you may as well just not have cops enforce the law. I think a hurricane situation could be fun, but it shouldn't result in high crime. I'd lean more toward the community coming together to help each other in some way, maybe the grocery stores are all out of food and the restaurants need to supply the city with food. Actual flooding occurs, downed citizens need help from drowning or water downing them. Make it an event about coming together rather than just more robberies I would say. I feel like we have plenty of robberies as is. I'm just spit balling here but I think I got my view across.

I'm just reading "inflate the economy". A big event would be fun, but dumping money into everyone just because we can dump money on everyone isn't the way. We don't need more ways to get money. If you want money it is obtainable. We live in an RPG and RPGs typically require grinding.

I feel like we need a way to ignite the RP and not just saying "come play, get easy/easier money".

Rescue choppers, certain areas are flooded, people need to be air lifted off roofs to safety where a supply camp is set up by restaurant owners. Police are going out in boats rescuing people. Sure there could be crime, but make it not all robberies. Make it about surviving the hurricane.

Something like this could create epic rolwplay stories and they don't even have to be about crime, it could be emotional, it could be funny, but all in all, make it about surviving as a community to promote continuity of character stories.

hate to be a cry baby here BUT

I used to play FiveM everyday whenever I could, until about 4am, having an amazing time, I got burnt out (as to be expected) and when I came back to Chapter 2, trying to play as a civ/criminal, with no crew to do bank robberies with, means that I get on and either do drugs (which is boring) or go hunting for hours upon end

THIS IS NOT FUN AND IS NOT ROLEPLAY STOP MAKING ME GRIND LET ME HAVE FUN - i miss fivem :(

not everyone wants to grind, not everyone has the time to grind, i dislike having to grind and there is no way I am the only one.

I love edge and will never leave edge, but until I either find a crew or somehow make some money, my crim will continue to stay on the character selection screen, whilst I go and play cop once every 3 weeks, and whilst doing so not finding any players to interact with BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL GRINDING

rant over, ty for listening, no hate only love

I agree that inflating the economy is bad. However, this is a short-term event that would last a couple days. While maybe the percentages should be a little lower the concept is there.

As someone who plays, 2 civ's and 1 crim who very rarely does crime, runs there own lil taxi business and works in a coffee shop. You most definitely can make good money , easily as a civ, you just got to put more roleplay in then you would as a crim to get any profits.

Oh boy do I have something to tell you about roleplay servers :ROFLMAO:

But I do like the idea, however, the numbers and everything would have to be fleshed out more as you can't exactly GIVE money away. Otherwise the risk vs. reward is dog doodoo and meaningless

its either we do something or do nothing. good roleplay scenes continue to get further and further away in my book. honestly, the economy doesn't matter if no one wants to play because the server is either too grindy or not enough RP. the goal of this event is to get people in the server by any means necessary, sure maybe the % are to high but also its balanced by the fact of police having more money for the first time and hopefully patrolling more, preventing more crime, etc.

I agree that it shouldn't just be focusing around money, however thats one of the better ideas I can think of, of getting more people than normal in the server, other wise its business as usual.

The goal of this post isn't just around money, money is the hook that reels many people in, the goal is to get better/more roleplay, while yes money has diminishing returns with people focusing on it, and not roleplaying. Id rather increase the chances of RP (by having more people in the server) due to the event

I have personally found no benefit in the economy design. People used to have all the money in the world and focused on role-playing and creating scenes. Now everyone's broke and grinding. Then they get tired of grinding and log off. I wouldn't be opposed to doing away with the whole "protect the economy" stuff.

do you expect me to be sat behind the coffee shop counter WAITING for customers?

I have a job at Redline aswell as PDM, standing behind a counter, getting 2 customers when I put out my first ad, and none for the next 30 minutes is not fun.

Why would I look at my desktop, see for example - FiveM, Modern Warfare, Minecraft and Assassins Creed and think hmmmmmmm do I want to stand behind a counter and scroll through instagram and tiktok for 30 minutes? or do I want constant gameplay where my brain is constantly active.

Again, not trying to sound like a dick, but this is my thought process

EDIT: I dont expect something as constant at Shipment 24/7

I think this is a unique idea, I don't personally know how much inflation this would cause. Maybe instead of spanning like 3 days during the weekend... maybe a 3 hour period at any given time once per week max so if you hear about it happening and you have time, you fly in and I would say 3 hours is a good amount of time. let me know what you think about that.

This would decimate the economy. I've seen your comments regarding crims being mega rich etc and I just wonder how that logic applies to this. Hypothetically following #1 alone would give crims a whooping 7 figure number to capitalize on when it comes to banks and their individual cooldowns. and if this last a weekend LOL with enough grinding half way to 8 figures to crims wouldn't be far off. #2 Not so much although imo drugs do pay fairly nice to begin with, maybe some sort of drug only event would be cool. 3. OP 4. It does a 1:1 ratio right now which in itself is kinda odd so anymore it would pay more which just would be absurd and boosts #1 even more. 5. maybe 25% but massive increases would be crazy and with things such as incentivized shifts in talks I think its fairly pointless. And it just plays to inflating the economy to some crazy levels on both sides. Honestly an event like this would suck for people who rp hardcore civilians and arent criminals.

I dont wanna sound harsh but this just sort of reads of a personal problem. You might be right not everyone wants to grind but on the contrary I know people who do. And coming from previous cities where the economy is inflated its awful. Buying certain things just get meaningless with a boosted econ. Crazy massive $$$$$ figures are equally immersion breaking. Even old edge when I was here had this problem of boosted econ back in 2018. And I think you are mistaken when it comes to "not being able to find people cause they are grinding" people have their cliques and stick to them lol. And regardless grinding is a start to every story and it doesn't take much grinding to then follow that up with passive incomes. I think all of what im reading so far just sounds like a case of people not fully aware what all is available to them.

You're not being harsh, this is how discussions happen, its just nice to clarify that we're not being dicks preventing us from starting an ego competition.

When Chapter 2 first started, I believe I was on break from school from May - September, giving me a lot of time to waste, meaning I grinded my Ammunation, and made 100k, this did not build a story, and I fail to understand how hitting rocks with a pickaxe will start a story either.

I still stare at that 100k in my bank everytime I get on, scared to spend it, as I know if I do, I won't have anything left.

Passive income - I bought all the truckers and whilst I understand it can make you 12k a day or something similar to that number, that is if you play for 24 hours straight - again let me clarify, I do not play everyday, and even if I did - what would I be doing whilst waiting for that money to come in? Sitting behind a counter again? lol

Maybe there are other passive methods of income, however the start up cost means for grinding, something I dont want to do. boosting cars could be cool, if I wasnt stealing cement trucks for "NITRO"

Selling drugs would be fun, if it wasnt driving a van up and down the highway, like I've already done atleast 200 times.

What is also questionable to me is someone who owns 18 businesses - mechanic shops and such, idc about grocery stores

(this is not the fault of the player if I had the money and time I'm sure I'd do the same).

the logic of "CRIMS ARE TOO RICH" doesn't apply here, because be all end all, they are already all rich so who cares, the goal of this post is to do something different, and hook people in with money, because everyone wants money. then it could force them to do some roleplaying. I think drydens idea of doing this for 9 hours total split between 3 days during the event would be a good compromise but once again my 1-7 plan is the suggested idea to go along side it, if you have other ideas for the event suggest it.

The over all idea is I want a 3 day hurricane event, and their should be a reason to be present at it. whether that be for the Unique RP or for extra money it will get people in the server.

I don't care about money because at what point do we bend over backwards for the economy until it ends the server. Most of us are here for the long haul, I personally would like to see a 3 day period where we hit 50 players every night. Thats the goal, Idc about the money, a bunch of you do for a good reason, but some times we have to bend the other way to have a good time.

but once again, SUGGEST OTHER IDEAS.

1. - It is a basic foundation you build off of, if you cant further it from there then it is a fault of your own. My gang and myself were all over the mines for a solid week and another solid week on trucking app.

2. - Gotta spend money to make money this part idk what to say.

4. - This I agree with, there is a discussion to be had about what vehicles you boost etc and will be brought up on the development side.

5. - soontm sadly but I agree

6. - I dont know who this applies to
