CS Jailbreak Maybe we have too many admins?

In the past we did an admin roll call that retrained everyone and removed people who never checked in. If this is really a problem leadership can do it again. That being said, more admins lets work be split so the admins can still enjoy the game instead of it becoming a full time job.

I agree with this. I think there are many admins but not very active. But if an admin does something there is a lovely section to report them. The CS leaders will get back to you asap

nah but when an admin is abusing its nice to ruin their abusing fun

Now before I start I just want to say I have no hate or ill will towards the administration team this is just a genuine concern.

A Little Info About Me
Hi, I'm Contivalious and I've been playing JB for a very long time and have witnessed EGO since its merge with JB when pG was brought to an end. Over the years I've seen this the heights that this group has brought to JailBreak and have made very fun memories. I've also seen a lot of the flaws with the structure within the community and staff.

There Are Too Many Admins
Also this post turned to be a huge shitshow I'm going to referencing Nifty's post about poorly trained JB admins "https://www.edgegamers.com/threads/379239/". While Nifty's point may have been aggressive he did point out a VERY major flaw that is very common in Jailbreak and that's administrators making bad decisions. And ok, admins are humans too but this has become such a common issue where people don't even bother reaching out to admins anymore when they are freekilled or a rule is broken unless a server manager is on. I understand that we are a growing community but it seems like every couple of months we get 10 more admins and rarely lose admins. Leading me to my next point...

Why do old admins still have there positions?
Ok fine lets say the server does desperately need 10 new admins but why don't we remove old admins who rarely played or probably haven't even played since the rule changes? If this honestly wasn't an issue then all the admins could be easily listed on the edge gamers forum post but there are around 20 admins alone that make up the leadership team. The CSGO server can only hold 54 (maybe a little more if you use console connect) we don't need 54 admins to match it. I believe that by removing inactive admins not only could we open up more positions but cut out a lot of unnecessary confusion when inactive admins return to fulfill a position they no longer understand.

Why do all eGO admins across every inactive game have access to the JB admin panel
I quite literally watched a FiveM admin try to warden in JB then use his admin powers (not !peace the message quite literally said "muted by admin") to mute prisoners and guards while they were trying to instruct him on how to actually operate the buttons on the map. I doubt a minecraft admin, GTA admin, or (even TTT/surf) god knows whatever game administrator needs to have access to the admin commands in JB. There is genuinely no good reason to. (I was told by an admin that all administrators had access to all admin panel on every edge gamers owned server).

The server does not need to be filled by admins
This one may seem less important but the JB server does not need 10 player slots filled up by eGO admins. This is a very clear sign that too many players are administrators. Maybe 5 max are really needed at a time and it just look very tacky that 1/5 of the player list are administrators in my opinion.

I think edge gamers needs a server reduction in the amount of administrators we have for not just JB but as a whole. I am sorry if I've insulted or upset anyone this was not my intention.

I have to disagree, yes there are a lot of admins, and in some situations, there are a **** ton of them online, but I have been on multiple times when JB is full and there are no admins online. There are a lot of old admins who do not play as much, which I think should take a step down, and open the doors to some new blood, but eGO recruiting 10 admins every few weeks really isn't a big surprise, some admins come and go, if ten are brought onto the team what are the changes all ten are active in 1-2 months. I have experienced this same situation managing staff teams before. To your point about training, I agree that some admins are not trained as well as they should be, and it doesn't hurt to overtrain admins. The staff team of eGO is the face of the community and admins either are not taking their position seriously, by abusing the power they have been given or simply not acting when they should. I was on the other day and someone mass-free killed an entire stack of people, left, and never got banned. There were 3 admins online at the time.

I agree that eGO needs to see some reforms with the way they train admins, but I don't think it hurts right now to have more with the way some admins are acting.

I disagree as well. Keep in mind that we all have personal lives to tend to, and not everyone can remain active 100% of the time. Take someone like me for example, I was in the military until recently and had to deploy twice, 1 of those deployments being 10 months long. Do you think it's fair that someone loses their rightfully earned promotion in the community just for handling a life endeavor? I know this isn't the case for all inactive admins, but we can't assume that they just up and left. If an admin is doing a poor job in the performance of their duties as an admin, then you can always collect evidence and submit a player report or CL and leadership will handle it accordingly. Another point I'm gonna make is that I believe that the more admins there are, the better. Sometimes admin chat is just this giant wall of red of nothing but complaints, and takes 5+ admins sometimes to control the server to where it's playable and enjoyable. Sometimes just admins being online is enough to deter trolls and players that are only there to disrupt YOUR fun. I know there are some bad apples in the bunch, but for the most part EGO has a really solid promotion system based on someone's proven maturity, and just because people take breaks does not make them any less mature than they were. They would have to disprove their maturity with unfavorable actions for the demotion to be deserved in my opinion. Also, it's very rare that non JB admins come onto the server and cause issues, and for the very rare cases that it happens, go ahead and report them. If you have sufficient evidence and legitimate concerns about their actions, leadership will look into it for you. All in all, this post in my eyes is trying to make some misguided points and lacks the critical insight needed to make a solid argument about the number of admins within the community.

No such thing as too much admins, lol

Having a lot of admins isn't in of itself bad, but I believe it points to a bigger problem:
Admins that no longer admin is bad and common in our community.

Now I'm not an admin so I don't have first hand experience. But from my hours of playing on servers populated by, talking to, and being friends with admins, I think I'm somewhere on the money.

eGO does a fantastic job in getting e-tags and eG-tags to work to be promoted. They need to be mature, follow the rules, and be very active. But after these players get promoted to a high enough rank, eGO and above, the incentive to keep up the work that got them promoted is gone. They've hit a ceiling and their rank likely won't change. So there's no need to be as active as they were when they had a promotion on the horizon. When there is no incentive, there is no need to continue the responsibilities of an admin.

To the non-admins reading this, If you've ever been free killed or RDM'd, saw over 10 admins online, and didn't get a response from admin chat, the admins online get no reward to stop their game and solve your problem. They don't get enough for helping you and they don't lose enough for not.

This isn't the admin's fault. This is the system's fault. The system needs to give high ranking admins an incentive to continue to admin.

A minimum amount of hours of server activity every month could be that incentive. If an admin doesn't play enough, he/she can be honorably discharged from being an admin.

This doesn't have to be harsh. If a discharged admin wanted to be an admin again, he/she will already have a strong record of maturity and activity. Leadership also gets to have a cleaner and more accurate roster of active admins and will only have to worry about admins who want to help players in admin chat.

This isn't a new idea. Other CSGO communities do this with their staff and it works. Admins here already have voluntarily stepped down. Why not kill two birds with one stone?

I kind of disagree with this part.

1- A good majority of admins take breaks because of school, work, and other IRL problems. Demoting them just to promote at a later date would just cause more work for leadership members.

2- Admins who do ignore player reports constantly should (and recently are) getting dealt with. If admins or players see admins who are purposely not answering or responding to reports, leadership should be made aware of this. On the other hand, most of our admins (except from a few) will not deal with reports while they are actually playing the game. We play first, and should admin second.

The competence of an administrator's ability to understand the rules, what they can and cannot act on, and how to act on issues in a friendly and cordial manner while maintaining quality professionalism. This is what makes a great administrator, nothing else, not even hours. If admins don't meet these requirements, then they shouldn't be administrating the servers.

The other issue is that of which is an admin a player, or an admin? At Edge Gamers, the admins are players. These are unpaid, voluntary positions where community members are solely looking to put a good foot forward and service their community. Whether that player is able to put in 4 hours a week or 30 hours a week, it makes little to no difference. That player deserves to be an admin, they are an asset to behold unless they prove otherwise.

We shouldn't be resigning admins from the roster. There should be no complex incentive-based systems or automated punishments for admins who take a few months from the computer. We should be reducing the number of incompetent admins, and it's that simple. Take reports seriously, act on them more decisively, and other than that operate as normal. It's a matter of that in my opinion.

Its okay to have many its just the power they have they abuse it heavy and it's unenjoyable to play JailBreak. Maybe fire some and keep the ones who truly make the server fun!

On the night of March 21st all admins will be able to permanently ban other admins until dawn the next morning.
Those that survive will be the chosen few to mod the servers

make it interesting, disable the speed menu make everyone type it out :D :D

PREACH! Keep JB fun!

Well, this became a roast instead of actually tackling the bigger issue.
Anyway, I am a trained JB admin and I only admin it if needed. I can't say about any other admins, except they are only human.
Cheers,
~Surge
