I want to make a Montage

I'd like to make a montage. I have all the necessary things to. I have the Vista version of Windows Movie Maker. Also I have a registered version of fraps.

The problem is I have absolutely NO experience with Windows Movie Maker. I don't even know how to put music on a clip.

And FRAPS makes TF2 and basicle any other game lag a lot. I'm not sure how to fix this. Other people say it lagged for them at first, but then they fixed and it works great no lag whatsoever. I need to get it like that so I can play.

The only reason I want to make some montages is because TF2 is getting boring for me. And I've figured this would be a great way to have some fun. Making some friends on youtube, and showing the clan I can be good. ( Sometimes... I'm a noob for life.)

Well I'd really like for people to post ASAP because I want to start making a montage. I'm really hyped up for this opportunity. I might even start playing DoD:S and make a montage. I'd have to get unbanned from the eGO DoD:S servers first. I don't know why I'm banned. I went on DoD:S today and it said my steam ID was banned. It was most likely one of my good old friends -_-.

Ihave experience with both, I actually had the same idea but never enough time to do ALL the games, maybe if on our free time we just filmed some cool stuff and then you e-mailed your stuff to me and I could out it together. I have to warn you though, I record on 1680-1240 (something like that) and everything on high on css, I'm on vacation and can get more info on that when I come home in a week.

And I'd prefer to do the filming and editing by myself. Not that I have anything against you it would just be good for the future. Also I had someone do that in another clan, and in the credits he put in a little thing about... bad stoofsz

No worries, I'll try and help you out.

What GFX card are you using? The reason I ask is as you said earlier- Fraps kills the frame rate when recording unless your running a really good gfx card/system that gives you 100+ FPS in TF2 and even then the framerate can drop severely.

You could try Source Recorder- I've seen it recommended but haven't used it personally. It looks a bit complicated if your new to that type of thing though.

Alternatively what I've done before is use the TV-Out on my gfx card and record the footage onto a DVD recorder- You could also use VHS but not sure if the quality would be up to scratch. Then Re-import the DVD footage from disc into Movie Maker. If it's VHS it can be done with ATI's Avivo (Video In\Video Out). I'm not sure what the Nvidia alternative is.

You need to pm slayer on the dod ban it's because you not in as an eGO your ban is only for a few minutes you can play without your tag but if you PM slayer he will fix it so you can wear the tag.

I just got a new vista computer and its really good lol. I really don't know how to check the gfx card and stuff. I've never really had to. Can you tell me how?

Go into the Control Panel then System. If you click on your Computer Rating in Vista, it should tell you what gfx card is installed.

Alternatively download GPU-Z :

And that should tell you the exact make and model of your card.

You could run TF2 at it's lowest settings 800 X 600 resolution. That might help.

Ok, I'll try that. I just played in the turbine server for like 5 hours so I might take abreak for a while lol.

I'll post here and tell you how it went in a bit.

EDIT: No luck.. Still didn't work. I don't think the computer is the problem though, we just got a new vista comp and it is great.

Guys keep up the.. help posts lol. I can't seem to figure out how to stop fraps lag. Gamecam doesn't work with steam, and the Steam recorder only records a minute at a time, which in my case is very hard to work with. Should I try Hypercam? I've heard good things about it, and bad things.
