We have talked about this before, about how long CT bans would benefit the jailbreak server.
Talking about CTbans for longer than an hour, like day, week (VERY RARELY monthly).

"Why not in suggestions" I don't think posts get as much attention in there. It's cosmetic.

The concept is always brought up that, "Well if they did something so bad to get a 2 week ctban, They should just be banned for it."

I think this is wrong because it discourages players from playing the server after being banned for so long, also decrease player population, that jailbreak is definitely losing atm.
"Well whats stopping them from just joining CT to do the same thing again?" Well a lengthier punishment ofc. For example, 1st mfk = 2week ctban, and if they just do it straight again, make it 4 weeks.

It just sucks having so many people permanently banned for MFK especially when these people contribute to the total population of the server.
You can think of multple little kids who got bullied into MFKing and now are permanently banned or never came back from their 2 week ban.

What ur thoughts. I'll also add a poll to this.

pls only comment if u play jb i don't really care what you're gonna say if u don't

EDIT:

I'd like to add to the fact that CS:GO is a GAME. If you are gatekeeping people from playing a GAME for killing people in a GAME, you need to really rethink your life. It's a GAME, not a business, plus as an admin responding you aren't making money from the more people you snitch on andor ban.

I never liked this concept because if we have a tool that solves the problem, why make it into an issue that causes a bigger impact for the player.

The old jail server plugin used to have something called a T-List which was basically a perma CT-Ban. We used it to great effect back when I still played.

A bit neutral on this as longer CT bans should be considered as a way to be more lenient, but it is also possible that people may just MFK / grief for the sake of MFKing / griefing because they don't usually play CT. Being more lenient is a double-edged sword in this case that could both help the playerbase but also possibly sprout more toxicity. If something like this was to be tested over a period of time, it would stabilize the idea and effect it would actually have.

+1

I am a loud supporter of bringing back longer CT bans. pG had this system and it worked for a while after the pG/eGO merge. The only reason it was discontinued (from my understanding) is because the pG website was shut-down.

I understand MAUL is tricky to work with, especially implementing a CT ban system, but I think this can be achieved in the forums. We can have a separate section in the forums for CT bans and CT ban notes.

@Jayy Spare Spare @Belt

Although we would have to go through the specifics and reteach admins the new ways on CT-banning vs Banning, I think this is a really good idea. Losing server pop when we could just force them to play T for a certain amount of time is a lot better idea imo. +1

The problem isn't really the idea because imo who cares about something that lasted a couple seconds that ruined one round. Banning for two weeks from the server because someone mfk'd is kinda weird. (or pressing a button that kills people) The problem lies within the logistical side. Would we add a maul section or a forum section for ct bans? and can people contest ct bans? (imo that seems a bit much and kinda silly) Also, we'd have to spend time reforming rules and determining if we need to change punishment time. (considering cts are going to be "less careful") What if a T griefs that kills a bunch of t's, which is the same as ct mfking in a way, do we not ban them from the server? There's not a tban lol. Dumb point, but what if people play on alts to avoid it, perma ct ban? (just seems silly to deal with) Also, there's the training admins and making a lot of things clear if we're not server banning anymore for a lot of things. I don't think a lot of people are going to take it cut and dry like your example "For example, 1st mfk = 2week ctban, and if they just do it straight again, make it 4 weeks." (reason being keeping track of it all, and figuring out if leadership can only see ct ban notes or admins, and such) plus theres too many admins, not all of them read forums so it would take a while for everyone to adjust.

I'm all for keeping server pop up cause at the end of the day, it's a game, who cares. Keeping them on the server but just on t "could" solve it but I think theres a lot needed to be discussed if we implemented this.

-1 unless we can find a good way to do it, which I don't think there is

I think most of your points rely on time, which we have. The points you make don't describe why the idea is bad, but why the people conducting on the idea would be new to it, causing issues. Which can be fixed with time. I think this a big idea that can be expanded on to attract a wider playerbase.

"Has to have a lot of subset rules, so you cant just have T mains just hop on ct to grief once and they dont care, problem with that is that you cant tell which ones do it just to grief, do it unintentional, and those who just do it cause their t mains yk. but also you dont have notes for ct bans, so youll somehow need notes for them cause then they cant be contested yk. needs to be integrated into maul which is why it almost has a 0 percent chance of happening" (from big smart man peoples people)
"we have time" le would be the ones doing this and itll just be a lot of wasted time if no maul to put notes.

this answers why its bad. if theres not a maul section its not gonna happen (which there will never be one so) people will try and contest it. no notes = go to admin = long response time from admin+ how many times you'll (meaning LE) have to do it.

Griefing has always been a server ban so that doesn't change. CT bans were contested in the past and dealt with similar to how server bans are. Usually if a player was CT banned for 2 weeks, the next ban would be a server ban. I would agree that the hardest thing about increasing CT bans is logistical.

Increasing CT bans won't affect rules. Only some FAQ wording will be changed. CS Admin training guide would be updated and ideally include a CT ban section.

I personally think the pros outweigh the cons with implementing this.

I wrote this in the past about increasing CT bans:
Reasons For:
• Issuing CT bans versus a server ban can prevent eGO from losing a potential regular player. If a new player who joins CT gets server banned, they are not going to look for the forum website and make an account just to get unbanned.
• CT's will be more inclined to not break rules because they know a longer CT ban can be issued vs a regular 15 min swap or 60 min ct ban. (TehRaddish Mentioned this one)
• LE can still increase a CT ban into a server ban if they think it is warranted.
• Increasing time as a T player before playing CT won't help. Players learn the CT role by playing as a Guard and many new players dont know all the specific rules (which JB has a lot of)

The fact is that admins are not always able to see if a mass freekill, mass free damage, or one of the many CT/Warden rule was accidental or not. We implore admins to use discretion when fit, but often times we see server bans in cases where a longer CT ban would suffice.

Griefing has always been a server ban so that doesn't change.
There is a lot of different actions that fall under griefing aside from direct server dis from games that would be sometimes be considered CT bans. The though that people who play CT would be more inclined to not break rules makes sense, but like Peoples (through Spare) and I said, Ts who don’t play CT at all and do not care would feel LESS inclined to follow the rules and may result in them intentionally griefing (which you may not know their intentions).

I was big on this but then myself and other LE at the time spent hours on hours trying to find a good mix of each and we thought at the end of it that it would cause more harm than good by adding this. There is too much to type bc there are a lot of good and also a lot of bad.

I disagree with the population issue. Jailbreak gets by just fine without these weirdos who come on just to cause trouble. It’s just a game but if you’re going to ruin it for others then you can play elsewhere. If it’s “just a game” then surely they can’t be that upset about not playing it.

Edit: it just seems your whole argument relies on server pop. If you worded it more towards “players who make simple errors in accordance with the rules.” My first thought is to jump to the big names who actively ban evade and come on and MFK. If this was implemented it should be done so tastefully, and probably only by leadership discretion.

A personal suggestion that I had fought for the longest of time was that your CT priority would be decreased if you got CT banned. Your priority (the amount of time that you're alive) caps out at 8 hours. Knocking off a few minutes whenever someone gets CT banned makes sense in my opinion.

The priority system is meant to require players get experience and an understanding of the rules and gameplay of being a guard. If someone gets CT banned, it would make sense to knock off a few minutes of their priority. It would also more strongly discourage getting CT banned in the first place.

I think this would be a happy middleground between the players that get CT banned way too often, and those that make an honest mistake.

You have no idea how much work goes into being a manager "that actually does stuff". It is so time consuming and everyone that isnt manager always says wow its so easy and not much work, it is. Thats why you see more managers+ stepping down from cs le than any other group. This idea has so many cons that you havent thought of, if it were all good and as great as it seems i wouldve implemented it in in 2021.

preach it to em 🙏

I think the problem with longer CT bans is people won't come back, I understand if its multiple mass free kills but something as small as a freekill should not be banned for 2+ weeks it just seems wrong
