I hated the update when it first came out but i have been playing this game for seven years. When source came out everyone was playing classic. Classic was dying a slow death. Edgegamers decied to take the lead and embrace source. 6 servers later we were the number 1 DoD clan in the world. Fastforward to the new DoD upate and now the update is growing on me and Edgegamers/DoD is going to embrace the update. I would suggest that everyone that hates the update get in the and start playing...ALOT.

The future of our beloved game is at stake here!!!!

Haha! "The future of our game is at stake here" Nice.
I'll be on as soon as I get back home...which is 2,000 km away.........
I don't really mind the update since not much has changed, but I just hate the new uhh whats it called? The chart that shows your scores. And how it shows your steam pic. The way you change your name is also very annoying.

Love-Hate Relationship

I love the new game but I hate the kill cam. Please kill the kill cam before I kill my computer. Thank you for your time. Also, I just put one of my favorite songs on, " Killing Me Softly".

actually it doesnt seem like much has changed, so that was why I was surprised when people went from loving the game to hating the game after the update came out

Great update. And the kill cam needs to stay! its a great new feature that forces you too keep you on your feet. :)

Other than that not a lot has changed. But still a great update that gives DoD a little bit of TF2. Domination's baby!

I still like Day of Defeat: Source it's still a greate game.

I don't think there has been so many changes.

Some guys says that if you take off the freeze cam then the achivements won't work and that's why they have putted freeze cam back.

The update isn't bad. I like the fact that there can no longer by any blocking since we can now run through our own teammates.

The cam is not a good idea. It gives away the position of the shooter - and that is unrealistic. If you are sniped or otherwise shot, it invalidates the whole idea of a snipe or even mg. when I was a navy snipe, you'd service as many targets as you could from one area in an extremely short time period and move.

If you had three close together, you'd try to pick them off asap, then didi mao somewhere else. Not having a cam showing the hostiles "here's where you were shot from". That takes away from the realism of DoD. Yeah, yeah, and someone is going to say, "FF off and running through your team mates isn't realistic either"..... but you know what I mean.

The mg. It is entirely unrealistic. When it is deployed and you service one target and move to the next (while still deployed), the movement is not smooth, but jerky - I posted this on the Steam forums as well).

When deployed, an mg is on a SWIVEL. Movement is smooth because of the swivel connection. I have to reset the mouse sensitivity to zero just to be able to swivel the mg properly, or it jumps. The mouse sensitivity then has to be readjusted after I have undeploy and run/jump, etc. This is a serious bug.

I also note that the shadows have been improved nicely. When servicing targets on Avalanche in the axis V crack, you see a flicker of a shadow before the player is in position. The shadows also work for other areas.

Also...and someone had time on their hands... the wallpaper in one of the allies apartments (facing Church) now has little green and pink flowers. Is that a nod to the "Trading Spaces" home channel TV program??!!

Agreed that the "CAM" is a little annoying. But being able to walk through teammates so no more blocking, being able to switch to another open slot (Rifleman to Sniper, to Assualt, etc) and have it happen right then is nice. On the whole this won't make me stop playing. it just takes a little getting used too.

I think we need to make sure we keep ay disgruntlement to a minimum on the servers though. Having players complaining for 20 minutes about how their Thompson isn't the same anymore or other nonsense just makes acclaimation harder for the rest.

Since the update there has been alot of "DoD is now TF2" going around. I ahve taken the liberty of comparing them in a more ordered fashion.
Similar attributes before update(TF2-DoDS
Classes
Shooting
Made by Valve
Uses Source
Similar attributes post-update(TF2-DoDS)
Freeze Cam
Domination/Revenges
Achievments
STEAM Icon usage
STEAM name change
Can pass through team mates
Change to class in spawn is instant and no suicide
Differences post-update(TF2-DoDS)
Classes do not have specific personalities
Player can not take large amounts of damage
Semi-Realistic graphics
Use of grenades by all classes
Ability to sprint
Ability to take multiple postions (Stand,Crouch and Prone)
Use of iron sights
Each team has similar but unique weapons
Assault class has quick use meele weapon (Fist)

All I can think of feel free to add if I missed anything.

Only prob;em I have with it is Smoke grenades now cause a severe drop in FPS.

Yes there are some changes......some annoying.....maybe difficult, but it is truely..........better! Im enjoying it quite well, it just took some getting used to it! Just keep trying!

LOL, you got that right. The switch for DoD Classic to Source was painful for the first while and text was full of complaints, but in time, it became the cadillac of simulations of that type...and largely still is, in terms of gameplay.

They just have to iron out the bugs. If anyone hasn't already done so, register on the Steam forums and air your update gripes. If enough ppl don't like a feature (and depending on the time and complexity of the fix), they'll take care of it. Posting here helps to a small degree, but on Steam you get the developer's eyes.

I like the updates and extra features. I guess the kill cam is mildly annoying but I just ignore it. it seems to me that the tweaks have made the game better.

Just make sure you post constructive criticism, or your thread will be locked. There have been a lot of whiners on the Steam forums and the moderators won't tolerate it:

I'm going to be very clear about this...you can disagree all you want about the recent changes to DoDS. You can make your opinion known. But here's the deal: If you flame, if you attack each other, if you try or ignore the swearing filter or any other rule on purpose, you'll get tossed.

Read the rules...follow them...and learn how to disagree without being disagreeable.

And please be constructive with your feedback (positive or negative). It is very difficult for us to improve our games and services if your feedback is not constructive.

*Better CoF
*No-collision
*Fixed left-peak bug
*New official map (not so new to many of us)

etc...

Overall, I think the patch is great, but that's me.
