Other programs minimizing games

I have a little problem. When I am playing a game they keep getting minimized to bring up other programs. Usually it is either Windows wanting to do an update or this internet phone thing that pops up when we get a phone call.

My question is is there anything I can do to make it not do that? Maybe an option to make the currently running program be the default window or soemthing.

Normally this would be a minor inconveince but now everytime it does it by time I get the game open again I get the "Connection Problem Auto-disconnect in...." message.

For the Windows update thing. here's what I recommend (I'm running XP so, sorry if you have Vista):

Step 1:under the start menu, go to settings and open up the control panel
Step 2: Click the Automatic Updates icon
Step 3: choose the Turn off Autromatic updates button or the one that lets you choose when it tells you about automatic updates at a certain time on a certain day

and away they go

As for the internet phone, don't know what to tell you considering I have Comcast. But you might hunt around for an icon you can right click or a program that has a settings or options tab
