Best Guitarists

[AzzNik]

Alex Lifeson - one of the most under-rated of all time. Simply amazing.

Matter of fact... Rush has 3 of the best musicians period. Geddy on bass is perfection and Neal on the drums is the best, end of story.

[EDITThor]

I don't like to bash musicians, but seriously, this guy was number 5 on my list

This is on opinion, remember. You're into metal, I'm into non-metal. That Yngwie fella's a good guitarist, but I stand by my earlier statement.

[bLackout {RD}]

John Frusciante

[KURDT_COBAIN]

James Marshall Hendrix
David Jon Gilmour
James Patrick Page
Yngwie Johann Malmsteen
Angus McKinnon Young
Saul Hudson aka Slash
Kirk Hammett

KURDT DONALD COBAIN (for the raw grunge sounds)

[DaKernel]

In no particular order, some of the best:

Alex Lifeson
Frank Zappa
John Petrucci
Al DiMeola
Allan Holdsworth
John McLaughlin
Jimi Hendrix
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Jeff Beck
Steve Morse

[Kaputt]

The last day I have done nothing but listen to guitarists.

I have to rethink my PURE SKILL list..

I can't put them in order, but

Surprised that none said Tom Morello. I think he's a great guitarist.

Some stuff when he was in Rage Against the Machine:

Alot of good and deserving guitar players are already up there but I'll throw up a few more names.

Eric Clapton

Lindsey Buckingham

Billy Corgan

James Iha

None Rock Entry - Brad Paisley - I remember hearing him on a radio show play two songs at the same time. Was pretty crazy.

And Martin Gore. Sure he may not play super complicated riffs or whatever, in fact, most are probably really simple, but I think he plays well nonetheless.

Haha, I was looking to see if any one had said him, and of course in the last 2 posts you mention him. I think he's at least up there with best because of his extremely unique sounds. I miss the days when I could say that and every one would have no idea who I'm talking about. But now, since Guitar Hero 3 came out, everybody and their sister knows the name.

[paul bunyan]

Don't play Guitar Hero 3, heh. However, my bro has all of RAtM's and Audioslave's albums. I've listened to the CDs and can't believe what he does with the guitar. I haven't heard anyone else do what he does.
