I personally enjoy vanilla Minecraft. I have been part of SMP communities in the past and they are great. Starting an SMP server for eGO promotes communication, teamwork, and creativity to be displayed for others to see. After reading over my structure, let me know if this is something you would be interested in. If you have any additions you would like to make, please leave a comment.

Structure

1. Vanilla+

Vanilla+ is vanilla MC with additional plugins that would improve quality of life without changing the game.
a. Examples:
Sign Shops
Armor Stand Tools
Ultimate Mob Head (lets you get a head from any mob)

2. Seasons

Seasons are how long the world will stay until there is a reset. I believe a 3-month long season would work out perfectly. This allows players to create megastructures and would allow for 4 seasons a year.

3. No Griefing or PVP

This server would be for creation and teamwork. Griefing defeats the purpose of that. PvP would be allowed in certain areas. Players should be focusing on growing the world, but if they want to show off their pvp skills vs another, they can head over to an arena.

VVV EXEPTION VVV

4. Anarchy Week

For the last week of each season, players are allowed to grief and pvp. This would give those agro players something to work towards whether it be saving up wither skulls or tnt. Before this happens, a nice photoshoot of the world would take place to remember the season.
a. Possible addition to this: Change it to HARDCORE mode for the last week. If you die, you are out and must wait until the next season starts. This will create a competitive environment to see who can be the last one standing.

5. World Border

World border is necessary, but there are different ways of going about it:
a. Starting with a small world border of 3k-5k and then expanding each week/month (month seems more viable) a certain amount until the end of the season
b. Start the world with a specific size (10k-25k)

6. Whitelist application system

Players will have to apply to join the server with an email (or possibly eGO member only 😉.) This prevents repetitive disruptive behavior from players who just want to grief.
This also creates more jobs which would allow more players opportunity to prove themself as a valued part of Edge Gamers Organization.

7. Plugin List:

  1. Any permissions plugin (for perms duh)
  2. Grief Prevention (self explanatory)
  3. CoreProtect (Logs every block and allow for rollback if grief has happened)
  4. WorldGuard (for spawn)
  5. Dynmap (real time interactive map for the world)
  6. Possibly a plugin to limit redstone or villager usage as those are known to cause lag on these servers.
  7. Possibly an anti-xray plugin. (easily replaceable by vanished admins)

8. Competitive Weekly Quests

Utilizing either the scoreboard function or a sign leaderboard at spawn, there would be weekly quests displayed for players to grind out.

Quest Examples:

  1. Killing the most of a certain mob (wither, salmon, villager💀)
  2. Placing the most of a certain block (sponge, gold block, ice block [for community nether highway👀, villager head💀)
  3. Breaking the most of a certain block (spawners, dragon head, obsidian, emerald ore)

9. Economy

The economy would be completely player run. Every SMP I've played on has used Diamonds as their currency. Some servers use an honor-code system where they leave a chest with all their goods and put a sign next to it that displays how many diamonds for however many items. Players would then leave diamonds in place of the items. This would be hard to manage, but it isn't possible with the help of CoreProtect. The other option is to have a shop plugin that would not make it possible for players to take what they want, and the plugin would automatically trade the items for them.

This is a good idea and i think it’s on the board for the next server next to the event server being brought back up. Some stuff will have to be readded in and i already got a few ideas but this is good! MC-LE will definitely make a note of it as currently they are getting skyblock set up for launch.

Also i might be going crazy but i feel like i already made a comment like this before on a thread similar to this.

+1 we need hardcore factions

core hcf stuff
deathban: deathbans make every move count. tweak the timer if needed but keep it risky. they make you hungry for more, they will actually increase server activity.

land claiming & bases: factions claim land and build defensible spots. tough but fair. after a certain ratio of deaths to their faction members, their base becomes raidable.

events: koth and conquest for big faction showdowns, very cinematic

keep in mind, hcf naturally has vanilla feel barebones plugins: only what hcf needs. no extra fluff like shops or quests

no p2w: equal starts. no paid advantages except DS halfs your deathban

community alliances & rivalries: let factions figure it out. keeps it dynamic

leaderboards: track who’s on top. adds some fire!!

6k by 6k overworld, with a 3000x3000 border on launch. border expands 500 blocks each direction weekly until map reset at 6 weeks.

provides a gameplay loop for everyone- if you are someone who likes to build and work on farming, you will never run out of stuff to do. if you are looking to pvp, there will always be events and someone trying to stop you from getting the loot. if you wanna be a little spider and build trap bases, and traps out in the wilderness to kite to after capping koth-- thats you!! something for everyone in hcf. I think if ego is looking for a server that could draw in a huge population, doing hcf right might blow everyones minds :D my take!

its also very entertaining just to watch, and one or more people could become big youtubers just off uploading HCF content. check out the scene on minecraft for yourself :D
