graphics card

Well I have some bad news kiddo...

You cant add any graphics card to your computer because your motherboard is lacking a dedicated agp or pci-e graphics slot. (note: you can get pci graphics cards but they are crap)

I could put together a decent hardware setup for a computer tower for just over $500 if you give me a specific price range that would work I can get the best for your money.

I have the distinct feeling that the powersupply in the" compaq presario SR1120NX" will not support a Graphics platform that uses PCI-E. I have a 850 watt power supply and it cooks with my 8800 GTX. If you're planning on upgrading the Graphics card Head_shot, plan on having a warmer room lol.

Si, i have an 8800 also with a 850 antec psu.

But anyways, i highly suggest the 8800GTS 320MB very very nice card for the price and supports the future of all gaming so you wont have to go out and buy another card..(i.e Directx10)

I could not for the LIFE of me, find a 850 Antec with detachable cables, so I settled for a Thermaltake PSU. The 8800 really does suck the power right out of the socket, lol.

go with enermax psu's i had one fry (no reason why but w/e) did nothing to any component in my comp and didnt loose any files, but did make it run better. plus 3 year warranty, great psu's

A new cpu... as in what context, whole computer or just the processor?

Cause if its just a processor then your also very screwed. Considering the socket your cpu uses is outdated and they no longer make cpus for that format. Your socket is 478... the best you'll be able to find out there is an old OEM Pentium 4 3.0ghz (OEM meaning just the cpu not the heatsink cooler or thermal paste)

I can put together a pretty good PC for $650 w/ shipping... all high quality products. I could probably stretch it to $550 - $575 w/out sacrificing too much performance but noticable drop in quality (its harder at a lower budget). You'd pay easily $1200-ish from a system builder for the same components, and if you're not into building it yourself, you can easily bring the parts to a local computer place and get it built for $40 - $60 (depending on the store).

yup yup, i built my comp from scratch and it was about 750 bucks and it owns all

No i'm not a computer programmer but I do build people PC's all the time. I've built hundreds of computers... its just a small side job that I do, its more of a hobby.

But I'm not saying I'll build you one... I'm just saying I could suggest the parts and you buy em on your own, then its up to you if you want to put it together yourself or just bring the parts to some local computer store and have them do it. I'm not asking for any money... I do this for people all the time lol just tryin to help you get the most for your money.

I used to use Nvidia and hated ATI, but now I'm an ATI fan. I picked up a x1950 pro in AGP and I get a solid 50 FPS with max everything on source. That's not half bad considereing the PC only has 1600 on the FSB (800 w/ hyper transport).

As for you HeadShot. Build yourself a PC, you'll get the best componants for your dough. I build a system for a family friend for 450 w/ no graphics card. Now, since ATI released their 2900, prices on their 1900 cards dropped through the floor. Yes there are better Nvidia cards, and correct me if I'm wrong, but bang for buck, you can't beat it. A 1900 ATI is I think a 7800 Nvidia, and the 1950 pro/xt's are 7900/7950....though the 7950 might be a bit better, however last I looked it cost way more.
