EdgeGamers Rank Changes, Major Structural Update 2026
Earlier this year, EdgeGamers began on a path to usher in the next era of our gaming community. Since the beginning of this year, @GardenGroveVW has worked tirelessly to develop our long-term plan and vision. Significant change takes significant time, and incremental stages were developed to allow for careful planning, discussion, and rollout.
Milestone one was hit when EdgeGamers achieved its 20-year mark. MAUL 3.0 was rolled out to provide an infrastructure update that enabled an endless amount of new possibilities. New management tools for Leadership, membership tracking, and application acceptance allowed front-line Leadership to manage the day-to-day most effectively. Behind the scenes, new server management, new framework integrations, updated web capabilities, and much more provide our Tech experts with what they need to forge the future of our game servers and web development.
In addition to MAUL 3.0, we released a refreshed brand identity. EdgeGamers' new registered mark was earned and added to our traditional logomark and type. While that remained relatively similar, a big change was brought to our rank identity. New EdgeGamers rank images fitting our new design style, sporting orange and blue color palettes, were introduced, bringing a throwback to our original rank images with a completely reimagined flair. To top it off, the team rolled out a new web experience and homepage to accompany the forums.
With our massive celebration fading after July, a new focus was put into play. Milestone two requires methodical deployment, as it involves mostly changes away from the community's eyes. This is where we are today as we consider our current state. Structurally, the Executive team began rolling out new standards and expectations for our Leadership teams, all the way up to the top. There were also new goals put in place for our current and developing communities.
Counter-Strike 2's lack of actual community support and continued sabotage from Valve updates required immense attention. While there were continued barriers faced along the way, the careful development of a new server framework built by @StealthGus, @ShookEagle, and others on our Tech team brings true stability to CS2 Community Servers such as Trouble in Terrorist Town and Jailbreak. The expected full release of this framework is right around the corner, and we will be spotlighting this in a separate news story in the coming days.
WARDOGS took the community by storm, bringing thousands of new faces to the community. It even returned some very old faces we've not seen in quite some time. The excitement this game has brought has been not just unexpected, but unprecedented. Swift action was needed, with five game servers constantly filling up with 100 players each. Some servers even had join queues of 15+ players waiting to get into the action. Admin tools, while limited, needed to be developed, as well as the team to use them. @redchance and @Ghosting Godzilla, along with their newest promotion,
While the server team has been hard at work, the other side of milestone two changes the way we interact on our forums and website. With our new website platform, a team of
As work progresses heavily in milestone two, from server to web, the biggest task of the Executive team was to define what's next. Milestone three looks to the future and brings significant change to the way EdgeGamers operates from top to bottom.
An analysis of the Community Management team began and led to the conclusion that a shift in mindset was required. Community Management will no longer operate in a way where they hold singular responsibility over a specific game or area of the community. Instead, the team works as a collective council, providing insight and leadership across all areas of the community. This team holds the veteran experience to know how EdgeGamers has functioned and will continue to function into the future. They are the keepers of the culture and anchors of the community's values.
From there, we look to the senior leaders representing our day-to-day efforts on the front lines. Current Senior Managers' responsibilities are mixed across the board, with different levels of access and responsibility. A standardization of this is imperative in an effort to truly empower these individuals to be the top day-to-day leaders in our most critical areas of the community. Members of this rank will now hold true authority to dictate full direction within their area of responsibility. When needed, the upper management team will step in to guide, direct, and ultimately ensure EdgeGamers' values are upheld. These members will be granted autonomy and access levels that truly put them in a place to lead their divisions.
Our first team leadership rank, Manager, also has its own inconsistencies. Streamlining this will create a predictable model across the community, make a clear path for promotion for our senior admins, and equip our first-tier leaders with the right expectations of their role. They'll have enough power to get the job done and the proper structure under their divisional leader to help make the right decisions moving forward.
Effective today, we announce the new structure milestone three will bring to the community, but this is a journey and a big look into the future and more of what is to come.
