If those skins didn't come with the game then they shouldn't be allowed. If you want the skins you should have to play at one of our custom servers or something like that so the Clean-Real servers like Ava. This is just my opinion I would like the game to stay the way it was when it was bought and installed.

Yeah when I played CSS a long time ago i used to have a sick skin for every gun, but for DoD I like to keep it authentic and just use their skin, not like you get bonus points for having your HUD look cool

Lol i installed Camoflauge skin lol and now i can hardly see the germans if they hide in dark spots and stuff, i only use Custom sounds for the Guns though cause it makes them sound better lol

Well it is an interesting debate. I would say that for my opinion, using such skins for fun is different from using them in a match that counts for something. Just a different perspective. I wouldn't say it was "cheating" to use them in a couple of games but if you are using them in clan fights or in contests that would be morally reprehensible to me.

Here's the thing. You would have to think on Vegas terms. Card Counting is not illegal, however if they even suspect you of doing this casinos will kick you out add you to the Griffin book (cheater list website) and you wouldn't be allowed to play in Vegas, all of Vegas ever again. That in-fact mean if you do go back then you are breaking the law.

They increase your advantage, plain and simple. However, modding a game is something we all have done. DoD is a mod, CS is a mod and originally Valve was trying to prosecute people for doing this. Being is court and such. (or discussing it i don't know for sure if it ever happened)

However, this modification is not available to all players it's a client side thing so even though I look bright pink to you you look like a regular ol' German to me. Or with the gun mod it gives you a little bit bigger Field of View, or a brighter dot. or whatever. Still and advantage

Call it what you will, even the mods that just "look" cooler would possibly give you an advantage, even if its just a mental one.

The only problem with running a "pure" server is there are mods that we all use that make the game more fun, like "medic" or even the Stats mod. While medic has an advantage, the stats don't, except maybe the mental one I was referring to earlier.

i just use hires skins, makes the guns more realistic. those sights are cool and all but dont need to be in a WW2 game...takes the fun out of it

put the v-mods (for the skin) in ur mats/models/weapons/v-mods folder (if u dont have weapons or v-mods folders make em)

then put ur model folder (for the skin) in ur models/weapons folder

and if u have sounds (for the skin) put them in ur sound/weapons folder

and all these folders are gotten to by Computer/C:/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/userid/day of defeat/dod

Those are pretty neat skins although I agree it gives an unfair advantage, but in the sense many people do the same it is hard to find players pure to the game but thanks for the time and effort but enjoy for yourself I am pretty sure I will not use these nothing against you of corse.

Ive been playing CS and DOD since the beta day's,and ive always used skins and i always will, the only skin that ive ever used that i think might give ya a advatage is the sniper crosshair skin,and all this skin has done is opened up your scope so you no longer have the inside the scope look but can see your surrounding's

I must admit I used the eotech sight for the M1 and K98 for one round on a non-eGO server and they really do give you a VERY unfair advantage. I'm not to good with those rifles but with those skins I dramatically improved. They took away the iron sights so there was nothing really blocking my field of view and gave me a precise target. Dont get me wrong it's a very cool idea...but not for a WW2 game.

I do not use skins, but now I understand why some people have called me a cheater for how accurate I have gotten with the iron site on the K98k: they think I an using one of these type of mods.

My preference would be to not allow them.
