Spawn Camping Rule

[quote1182203215=Pvt.Ryan]
How far away do they have to be in order to count as being "spawn campers"?
[/quote1182203215]

It isn't a function of distance or being at whatever place.....it's a function of death. If you can kill someone IMMEDIATELY AS THEY RESPAWN/APPEAR, it is spawn killing. No matter where you are.

If your bullets or whatever kill them as they appear, it is a no no.

JohnT's message was extremely clear on that:

"For eGO purposes: Spawn camping is killing people as they appear, REGARDLESS of where the respawners are killed from."

If I am sniping, I count at least five seconds before killing a guy after they spawn. It gives them a fair advantage to spot where they were killed and take a course of action. It's just enough time. However, this is really used when the other side defends their last flag.

Chyea I get it now, I interpreted the choices wrong thats why I made a wront vote :(

The term Spawn Camping comes from Quake... In the beginning of online play, The Death Match
( Or everyman for himself ) you had points where weapons respawned and where people would respawn... when you respawned you had no armor and blaster... You were weak and easy to kill..
The players would armor up ( Red was best ) and get a Rocket or Grenade Launcher or Super Nailgun and wait.. the player would respawn and be killed instantly ... Later they introduced a new concept... Team Play ( Like DOD ) people in like colored shirts and pants.. ( Think you had 4 colors ) and teammates would pull shifts guarding Weapons, Armor, Spawn Points and Quad Damage... The rest of your teammates would hunt down the other team ...
Back then ( 12 years or so ) it was a way to win... Now it is frowned upon...
Online gaming has come light years... and will only get better...

I got it right, even though I have never read the rules, and never played your server... common sense, sirs!!!

Anything goes as long as you aren't killing them the moment they appear - the rest is just warfare, that's what I say.

i agree with the ajnswer but how can u spawn camp if u cant get in their spawn?

On the Ava Server Some of the people on the Allies spawn inside the building which is accessible.

Cool, i've always thought, wow, I made it to the other teams spawn, do i need to retreat now ;) Control the enemy, but dont take them out as they appear! Sounds good!

i guessed right! yay! but i dont like people that spawn camp and i think its wrong but some admins dont even care.

so, killing them just as they show up is spawn camping, but its not if they can go anotehr route, or leave spawn are, or can run without getting shot right?

i got taht awnser, there have been problems with this in cs1.6 deathamtch on a server we use to run XD good times!

anyway its soo fun, but i dont see how u can do taht in dod, since you cant really get into spawn, unlesss ur talking about allied.

Well I thought it was the first choice, but that seemed to negate the whole mg class. So let me see if I have this right....left alley in donner, prone mg on the stone wall looking at axis side. If I see a nade come over the top I can get up and run, so therefore not spawn camping? If I'm right where would a camping spot be in donner? Thanks for the info, apologies if I'm not as read up on the rules as I should be.

Let me put it this way. Are you ahooting into the spawn as they appear? If so then you are spawn camping. If you sit outside the spawn and shoot them as the come over the wall then yoiu are not. Simple concept do not shoot them as they appear.
