Ive recently been a med to a player on warpath (Trandrin) and he got like 40 something kills without dying this was on warpath by the way, the teams weren't full there was like 9 on each.

The same thing happened on toyfort but I was the heavy and i got 22 kills, and Ive only racked up about 3hrs as a heavy a difference to my 25 as snipe :P anayway with my 22 kills thats about the equivelent of me killing their team twice again they only had about ten.

My question: Is it good Heavy Med Combos that are good?
Question 2: Is it if the heavy nows his way around the map with a med that makes the combo work
(I always play on toyfort so know where people hide etc)
Question 3: Or is it those two combined or something else that makes heavy med combos work?

IMO It really depends on the heavy knowing his way around and the medic knowing his basic jobs like watching the heavies back in a fight so that pyros or spies dont sneak up on them and knowing to crouch down behind the heavy so that they wont get killed. There really is no set standard because it also comes down to luck. If the heavy and medic are gods, kinda like how crash or woodstock are on medic, or so it still wont do them any good when a sniper headshots both of them. Plus map choice could affect it as well.

Heavy with a medic... depends on their healing cannon I think.
Heavy with an uber I dont think is very affective. On the other hand the kritz uber I think is a ton more affective. You can mow down mobs a lot easier I think.

The Medic and the Heavy just have to know what they are doing to be a great combo I guess.

Heavy + medic is all situational. But of course better heavies and better medics make the team more effective.

Try having one of each at the same time. Cue maniacal laughter.

Heavy and medic combos are great because a heavy has a lot of HP and can normally kill anyone (but because of his slow walking speed gets killed when many ppl jump him). So a medic can keep him healed while he dominates. I also like pyro+medic combos as a pyro ubercharged has more HP than a heavy without a charge (or so I read)

Only on broken maps. On Valve maps you can use this combo anywhere and get good results. I learned this during my 200 precious hours as Heavy :)

Never said that the situation was rarely good to have them. :)
I meant, it really depends on what you want to do. If you need to take out 4 sgs, I personally would not suggest using a heavy as the primary guns, take a demo instead. Thats all.

I did not mean that heavies are useless except in certain cases. I myself know which heavies are good and I'll stick with them.

QFT.
Kritz is insane on a heavy, while a uber hardly does anything except in clearing out a VERY small room.
The only example I can think of which an uber heavy is useful is for clearing out the first point in the first stage of Dustbowl. Kritz with a heavy is much more flexible.

See i never use crit for the reason it doesnt make you invunerable, but can 2 meds uber the same person so like an invlun and krit at the same time

midget, you can uber and kritzkrieg a heavy at the same time but it often ends pretty tragically for the kritzkrieg-ing medic. The uber and heavy can venture into places where the non-uber medic just can't. But again, it depends on the map and the players.

As a side note, successfully using kritzkriegs is even more situational and player-dependent.

Coming from a heavy thats usually pretty effective (with a good medic of course), I have to disagree with the people saying an ubercharged heavy is no good. If the medic runs in front of you and lets you close the distance quickly, I can usually take out 1 or 2 sentrys. The secret is killing the engi within the first 15% of the ubercharge, if the engi is running to his sentry then kill him before he gets there.

Another thing about medics, the ones who will follow you into the fray( as long as your a good heavy and protect your medic) will be the top scoring player on my team. I have went over 100+ kills with only 15 or 20 deaths when we had some good medics on the team. The best is when you have plenty of medics and one can basically be your personal medic, thats when its pwn time for me ehehhe.

I guess the secret is good coordination with the rest of the team, the heavy's wide stance soaks up a lot of fire that would otherwise be hitting the rest of the team. I have around 90 hours or so with the heavy, but the soldier is my greatest class along with demoman. In a pinch though, along with a good medic.....an ubered heavy used at the right time in a fight can turn the tides of war in a flash.

I totally agree Drunken. A fun tactic for me is to get an uber heavy to get in front of the SG and just soak up bullets while I cap as a scout. It's really easy to get away with and alot people don't realize it.

I like drunkens response, the only thing is on a team with one medic, sometimes he sticks to you while other players have low health calling for med nearby, would you expect the med to stick with you or heal the others as well to keep the team going (I use option 2 personally but I always return to the heavy to uber or heal)

It depends on the situation really.

If the person I am already healing is taking heavy fire and will die if I stop healing them, everyone else can wait, even though it makes them angry. If we are in a safer area I will overheal everyone around me, but focus most of my attention on whoever I think can handle whatever situation we are approaching.

Heavy is one of the most difficult classes there is on TF2. It's not luck at all.
1. You need to know when to stop shooting if your health is low.
2. You need to watch for spies, snipers, pyros, and demoman (pyros with the +50 health is insane to kill)
3. If your attacking a sentry and your medic doesn't run out in front of you to take the SG shots, then you will just be pushed back out of good range for your gun.

But Heavy is one of the most rewarding classes. I don't think there is anything scarier than see a Heavy running at you with a medic right behind him. Also the Heavy has some hilarious sayings if you dominate people. Listening to all these rules I got over 1000 kills on 2fort in one game.

Im not saying there isnt skill just saying some luck is needed. I mean if your trying to go across the bridge on 2fort and they have a couple of snipers and a spy or two theres a good chance youll die before getting half way across.

Or you know you can not try to gun everybody down but pull out the shotgun. Also a heavy + medic is amazing for defense as the enemies have to go through THEM otherwise its just "oh snap run away".Also with the heavy + medic yea a heavy has alot of hp so people would usually all focus on him but with the medic its like trying to take out a slow mobile sg.
