lol, kind of.
but if you're joining him through friends, you can't.
he's hosting a server and it reads the ip from HIM so it'll read it as 192.168.x.x or whatever, no matter what you do.
tell the server host to forward your ports.
to do this you need to forward 1 port to 20715 if you're the only one using it.
if not, forward 20715 - 20716. Next it will probably have a box for you to put your localip in, it'll only allow three numbers to let that 3 digit number = the last x in 192.168.x.x
you do however need your username and password to login to your router's webpage so that you can forward the ports. I don't know what router you have, so it might take me some time to figure out how to forward YOUR specific ports, depending on the router.
after the ports are forwarded, his server will be on the internet.
you will, however have to join his server through the SERVER BROWSER and not friends, or else you won't be able to get past the server not responding message. you can also connect via ip if you know his external ip. an external ip is NOT 192.168.x.x it will be something very different from that. maybe like 72.x.x.x or 68.x.x.x I have no idea what it'll be though haha.
anywho there's your BRIEF tutorial on how to get a listen server working
oh and it's my birthday today :]
