This map is great I've only had a chance to play it a couple of times so far but it's ranking as one of my favorite maps I have ever played so far. What do yall think?

Love it! it's as flexible as hell! but still, i want more possibilities, like cap c without b, or cap e and b without c

yea we started playing it yesterday thanks to djsatanswife (at least I think she ws the one responsible) its an awesome map, Im excited for the valve version. Only downside that I saw was that people were lagging a bit on it

The only complaints I have about this map are the multiple spawn openings near/on cp D, cp E being a little too big - so that you have to have 3-4 sg's to even begin to cover it, and it replaced db_heights.... :(

It definitely makes for some interesting game play though, and keeps my attention better than most of the others.

PS: Can't wait to see if they really are making badlands changes.

I love this map. It does look like some people have a hard time running it. Maybe that will be fixed with the Final release from valve

I seem to like it a lot. Phixx and I were the top players on dbheights according to gametracker but after playing steel, I've seem to become attached to it.

I don't really like it for a few reasons.

First, I think it is too complex. I love the elegant simplicity of something like turbine, or something like dustbowl. There are a few simple routes to the objective. That's it. In dustbowl, there are three ways to get to the final cap. In turbine, there are three ways to get to the flag. in steel... god knows how many ways there are to do something. There is something I like a lot about simple maps, because it puts the focus more on the players, i.e. finding ideal sentry locations, playing as a team. This type of map is more centric on the map itself, and I dislike that. In fact, I don't really like black mesa (sorry dragon) for the same reason. Too much to think about, and too many ways to get to the objective.

It's one of my fav maps. I used to play it all the time on a different server. You might get lost if it's your first round, but once you get the hang of it, it's great.

i have played this map a few times, and I get a tingly feeling inside my stomach everytime I do.

which means this map is pretty awesome.

Well i know what I'm playing next.

But that issue of complexity doesn't sound like to big of a problem unless your defending. Now i don't know the layout but defending sounds like you need to just own and own... sounds a bit hard in a public server with noobs all over. (Nothing a little coordination can't fix :P)

It's been about 50/50 in the games I've been in.

The issue of lots of options for the defense is counter-balanced by the pub offense having the same plethora of options. Which means less organized assaults.

HAH!! :D I love cp_steel now. After after 4 - 5 rounds the complexity disappears but with the large spaces it encourages teamwork otherwise you're going to get flanked and ganged up on.Also there is never one ultimate sentry spots there might be good spots but no ultimate ones that make it impossible to get by i.e dustbowl.Lastly the numerous ammoboxes and health kits evens out the pyro's afterburn and gives offensive engineering a chance.

I played once today. I thought it was alright but will need more time before I figure out whether I like it or not. It's a nice change and adds a bit of variety to the otherwise point a, point b maps.
