Doubt it, if steam doesn't sell it then they don't support it. Meaning, I can put COD4 on steam but I can't join a server through steam. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think he is asking about activating it on Steam. If so, only certain games can be activated, and Gears of War isn't even sold on Steam, probably because it is published by Microsoft.

You can make it so you can use the Steam Community overlay by launching it from Steam, however: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2219-YDJV-5557

I don't really understand what you are saying there, but I can guarantee the link Morbo posted will answer your question.

It would still use the game's built-in server browser. It would not harm your ability to join servers.
