Of course MS isn't going to give you support! Christ, it DELETES everything. Hopefully the person running DBAN would know what it does, especially after the work that it takes to get it running.

Believe me, I know what a format does and doesn't do. It does NOT delete anything. It simply tells your computer (dumbing it down for you) that there's nothing there and it's cool to write on it. It doesn't change anything, it doesn't remove anything. DBAN is a seperate program that you put onto bootable media that you run before you access your boot drive. It deletes EVERYTHING by writing a series of 1, 0s, 1010 (and continuing), or any combination thereof multiple times, and possibly with many passes with each of those runs (user defined).

You think your formatted HDDs are completely wiped? Send me an old one (I'll even pay for shipping both ways), and I'll tell you what kind of porn you were looking at within an hour.

Please educate yourself a bit more before you come in here and make a fool of yourself.

I am taking computer and information science and next semester grade 11 computer engineering. Also, which of the 2 fields is better? More pay? More demand?

Heh, I've never taken any courses (yet, going to later in college). I've learned everything that I know by doing (blew up my first motherboard) or by watching/listening to others. If you want to learn really quickly, give the website below a visit. They're really helpful, and very friendly.

Be sure to use the search button before you post a question though, chances are it's been asked before and it's easy to find the answer You don't know how annoying it is when there's 3+ threads a day about someone's CPUs clock speed changing all the time.

I'd expect Computer Engineering to be in higher demand than Tech support, as most of Tech support is being outsourced. CE would probably pay more as well.

Wow! I wish they offered classes like that when I was in HS. Mine offered 1 computer course that taught basic word processing and some BASIC on an Apple IIe.

This thread has gotten way off course, 2 different ways to reformat have been posted. BOTH ways will work. What the differences are between the 2 ways are posted clearly. i dont think this needs to go any further at this point.
