Is a PC controller worth it?

I've used a console controller all my life and I really can't stand my mouse anymore, would a Xbox 360 PC controller worth the $30 for me?

Unreal Tournament 3, Frontlines: fuel Of War, the Orange Box, CoD4, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, Far Cry 2, Crysis Warhead and possibly CoD World at War

They're all shooters...a mouse would offer far more precision. But if prefer playing with a controller, i guess a X360/PC controller wouldn't hurt.

If you really feel you can't use a mouse for those games, go ahead and get a 360 controller. Some of the newer games will automatically detect it when you hook it up and will map the buttons for you so that it'll be the same controls as on the console.

You can get the wired one that plugs into your USB, or get the wireless one and [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Windows-Pc/dp/B000HZFCT2/"]this receiver[/ame]. If you're playing your old PS1 games on an emulator - a controller is a must.

Emulated PS1 is WAY better than the real thing. Heheh - savestate, fight, doh ... loadstate ... try again ROFL!

All OBE games support the 360 Controller, CSS - glitchy since it came out 2k4 a year before the 360 ... COD4 probably as its on the 360, L4D same as OBE most likely as for the others Im pretty sure they support it if theyre on the 360, but not positive.

for 30$ the Microsoft 360 controller (wired one) works great, 9ft of cord, yeah 9ft.

im gonna be honest here, and say... dont buy the controller, a mouse and keyboard is MUCH better for FPS games, which seem to be your main focus. I wouldnt waste the money and spend a little bit of time getting reacquainted with your mouse and keyboard, you will remember how much better they are for FPS games.

Hey Death, does THIS bundle some with the wireless receiver?

Indeed it does. I just played Spider-Man 3 on my PC with the wireless controller today. No installation necessary, and it completely configured the buttons for me. I'd recommend it for platformers and other third person games.
