Rotation? What if. . . .

Maybe it would be a good idea to put maps of the same gamemode and playstyle on to one server.
Example:
Control Point maps with "ABCBA" capstructure.
Badlands, Fastlane, Granary and Well.
Assault maps.
Dustbowl, Badwater Basin, Goldrush, Gravelpit and Steel.

Just a simple idea...

I keep thinking about this... and I think if we have an =(eGO)=? rotation server... it should be custom maps made by the edgegamers clan members.

Example: =(eGO)=? |Custom Maps|Edgegamers.org|HLstatsX|Recruiting*
It would have a rotation of all community made maps. And it could be switched up every month or something.
It would give the mappers something to work for... getting their map on the rotation server XP.

I like this idea a lot. perhaps start it with blackmesa, then when someone gets another awesome map up and running, throw it in there, and switch it up every couple of hours or so. After more maps are added, we can start cycling them on a week-to-week basis.

IF there was a rotation that wasn't ALL customs, I'd say make sure they are ALL official...

We ran rotations in the last clan I was in, and ANY time a custom map popped up the server is EMPTY. People would be happy playing, map would change and the majority of people don't want to wait to download the new map so they go find a different server. The people that did stick around for the download finally got in and only a few people were playing so they left.

In a nutshell... Rotation servers have to be crafted very carefully and I would say need to stick with official maps so people aren't forced to wait sometimes a few minutes when the map changed, just my 2 bacons, err, cents.

But all those ideas get tossed if it is already known it is an all custom rotation from the start. Cuz people know each map will need to be downloaded... I really like the edge gamers 24/7 custom rotation idea...

Although I definitely like the idea of an all Edge custom map rotation, one of the downfalls of that would be what RyMo said with the downloading problem, and then actually learning maps is a problem. What I suggest is that these maps be fairly simplistic in map design so that once players even do download the map, they don't quit because they can't figure out how to get around.

What if we just made a rotation server with our current maps? Just have it take the place of chaos since it isn't doing so hot? This way people wouldn't be torn between there favorite servers we have. They can get a taste of all the goods on the rotational server.

and then maybe look at putting maps from eGO members as fifth and maybe sixth and rotate them around, make sure the finished maps from eGO are all given a fair share. If the rotation server lifts off, we can then maybe get the public consensus of these maps and see if they could maybe merit a 24/7 for a while.
