Achievments

I was wondering if there were a private server where team members could go to in order to get their class achievments and the bonus weapons associated. I'm sure there are other clans out there that do this, just not sure if you guys did. I personally have been trying to get them on my own.

There are lots of achievement servers out there - you can see them in your in game browser. I think they are kinda frowned upon though. Half the fun for me has been getting achievements as I go.

If I recall correctly, higher-up clan members used to be able to schedule an achievement event, and use the eGO private server. I'm not sure if this is still going on, however.

They'll throw achievement parties every once in a while, but usually only as a one time thing straight after they're released.

You can also create your own server, download one of the inevitable class customized achievement maps, add a bunch of bots. Easy way to get the 'Kill class X with Weapon" achievements.

I feel that achievements can be gotten by just playing normally. In about 3 weeks I unlocked everything for medic, pyro and heavy!

I just play as normal and gain the achievements naturally also, but there just seems like there are ones that seem almost impossible to gain in a normal game situation, i.e. Medic achievment "Big Pharma" where you (medic) and Heavy must stay alive and kill 20 enemies. That's not easy in a normal game as Medic-Heavy combos are usually #1 targets. Also, for many of the medic achievments, you have to convince a fellow player to do what you want in order to attain an achievement, i.e. "Blunt Trauma" where you Uber a heavy and he has to punch 2 enemies. I don't know about you, but most heavys don't want to drop their chain gun in favor of fists too often.

I'm not saying that achievment servers are right, but there has to be some kind of compromise as to what Valve put out there. I have 2 kids, 6 months and 18 months, so I don't have a lot of time to play (usually when they're in bed and mom is asleep on the couch ), so I can't commit a lot of time to the game in order to get the achievments like others.

Ah well, enough venting for now.

I would get them all fairly but the unlocks are too sexy to resist so I go on non-eGO servers and get them

Dont even sweat about those medic achievements. The one's requiring x amount of killing in an uber are super hard.

I've enjoyed just getting them as I go, although I haven't gotten all the weapons yet. Theres definitely a few that I would think you need some outside normal game help.
