DVD/cd HELP!!!!

well when i take a blank DVD and put it in my dvd drive. the DVD drive becomes a cd drive when i take it out its a dvd drive again how do i fix this.??? please help me

Have you tried writing to the disc / seeing how much space is there?

What kind of DVD media are you using, and what kind of DVD drive do you have? It is possible that the media is incompatible with the DVD drive.

i cant write anything to disk thats the problem.......and im using nero and its been working for the last 5 months and its and LG

I've had a DVD burner (BenQ) die on me before, if you've been burning lots of dvds or cds, it's possible the burner's laser is fried or something along those lines.

Yea my old LITE-ON (sucky)
died on me not a long time ago... and it wouldnt open unless a disc was already inside...
bought a samsung and im so happy!!

It is possible that the drive is malfunctioning and may need to be replaced.

1. If possible, try to install the "bad" drive to another system. If this is not possible, you could also try to purchase a new drive and see if it works on your computer. If it does, it would confirm that the old drive was bad.
2. You can try and contact the drive maker and see if you can get a replacement.
