Xbox Live New Experience

Hey everyone. I was reading up more about the new dashboard and the new friend's list, and also the new Wii-like characters they are adding. I wanted everyone's opinion on this "new experience". To be honest, I think it looks cool. I think its going to be a good addition. Some pics to let you all see what its going to be like can be found here:

Ehhh, I was all for it when I was under the impression that it was an optional replacement. Some of the old arguments against it are that you're going to lose those themes and display pictures that you spent money on. On an aesthetic plane, I don't exactly like the look of it either :\

I think it looks awesome. I really don't care for the gamer pics, because I really never bought any. The Mii-look a likes also look cool.

Its nice to have change, change doesnt include literally ripping off Nintendo's Mii idea and turning it into something well...hideous, Seriously just look at the guy. Other than that, its just sorta...meh.

Maybe im just crazy, but shouldn't they be working on more important things than the dashboard, which most gamers spend all of 5seconds in as their game loads up.

You know, maybe try look into that small hitch a few 360's hit, called... red rings, or something. Idk its probably not important.

Well, the RRoD problem was very over-exaggerated. The first generation 360's, were prone to mechanical failure, yes, but the later generations including the current have been improved to a higher resiliency. Not only that, but even when the 360's were prone to failure, Microsoft will replace it free of charge. (Less, I think S&H) But back to the new fall update dashboard. I think the new dashboard is nice and all, I just wish it wasn't mandatory.

EDIT: Microsoft didn't just replace them back at the first generation, they will still do so now.

That's a good point Chase. I have had the RRoD about 2-3 times. I have one of the first generation xbox 360's. They should be working to solve the RRoD fully.

Izumo, I wish it wasn't mandatory too because they are just going to update this thing, and if people complain a lot, what are they going to do then? If people don't like it, they can't get rid of it in any way... But, I think it is a cool idea how they are teaming up with Netflix. People are going to like that

Yeah, the netflix thing is brillance. The only perceiveable problem is you need to have a seperate netflix account. But, assuming you do, the ability to pick a movie and instantly start watching, on the fly, on your pre-existing hookup. That is something admirable true, but I still think it could be inserted into the old blade setup with not too much discomfort.

I don't have a Netflix account, but I think its a great addition. Being able to go on you Netflix account on the computer, selecting your list of movies you want to watch, logging in on the xbox, then watching them streaming to it with good quality, its great!

Personally, I think the avatars are useless. It's just a way for Microsoft to charge you more. Think about it, they're going to charge you points for extra clothes, and all the ones that will be free will be riddled with advertisements. Your avatar will be a virtual billboard. If I wanted to make a Mii-like avatar, I can just boot up my Wii and make a Mii. I heard that they're going to have a classic dashboard mode, but since it's not my 360 (my brother's), I have no say whether to leave it on original or the new dashboard.

I lol'd at that, and it does show that PS3 is better in most ways, but to fix your xbox, just send it in to microsoft and it will be back within a month or 2. I only got the RRoD once, sent it in, came back, never got it again. And it only messed up one of my CD's, which sucked....

I'd love to get my Xbox Live working. Just got another year of it and my Wireless only works when it wants to. I can't find a cause for it. But let's not get off track here. The new setup looks fantastic. I plan on playing Live a little more when this comes out.

Hah, I was referring to the cheap little avatars that they will probably make us have. Seriously, do we REALLY need to have little stick men from the sims to represent us? They should just give us a Master Chief icon and make everyone HAPPY.
