Half Life 2 Hits #3!

By the way Captain... love the Troll Shaman in T6 as your avatar

When making a "Top [insert number] Games" list, I think there has to be some explanation involved in the decision making.

For example, there's a difference between Top 25 Games in relation to playability today, and Top 25 Games in relation to impact at the time.

GoldenEye's a good example, because having recently taken it out at a party, after about 5 minutes everyone playing agreed "screw this, lets play Halo". So in that sense, GoldenEye may have been important in developing the modern FPS, but it isn't something that can still be played today with the same amount of fun as when it came out.

So... Meh. I think broad Top Game lists are kinda pointless because of that. But then again if everyone agreed what the best game EVER was, then I'm sure no one would ever play anything else.

My list includes:
1.StarCraft
2.Half-Life Series
3.The ElderScrolls Series
4.Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time/Windwaker (yes the windwaker)
5.Metroid Prime
6.Psychonauts
7.Fable
8.Pokeman Red/Blue

EDIT: Halo is not in the top 50 video games of all time. Also, Halo fans. Objectively look at bungie's level design and artisitc merit of their level design. It is very underwhelming. They never do detail work. EVER! Every level takes place in a huge gorge or valley and has large abstract brushes that take no skill to make.

you did... cause Nintendo had all the classics...
Btw, i think we may need to have a list of best Metallica songs, because there are so many to choose from... my personal favorite is the new one The Day That Never Comes... whats your Masterofpuppets... i would never guess...

I only agree that Super Smash Brothers. 3 is at the top the rest is doesn't seem in the right order or just doesn't belong in my opinion.

SMB3 is not Super Smash Brothers. It is Super Mario Brothers. The games are very different.

For those wondering why newer games weren't on there or higher you should do some research about the games. They were revolutionary and most of them hold up their own to this day no matter their age. Most of the games on that list changed their whole genre.

Goldeneye 64 may not be fun today but you have to realize it was the first console based FPS that I recall that had a FUN multiplayer component. It was amazing at the time and set the groundwork for Halo. Also you have to realize that you are used to better graphics, smoother controls and online play so you don't have to share a screen, all of which are evolutions that the industry went through.

I think the list is pretty comprehensive. With every "greatest of all time" list people will nitpick it but decisions have to be made. I think a big problem with a lot of peoples lists is that they let a personal bias enter the equation. Just because you think that Halo is a better game than Goldeneye 64 doesn't make it a better game in the cornucopia of video games. I absolutely love the game Snowboard Kids 64 but that does not mean it belongs in a "Greatest games of all time" list.
